Summary
*This position is a hybrid role in Aliso Viejo, CA*
Metagenics is seeking a Senior Manager, QA. This role will lead a team of QA automation developers distributed across multiple cross-functional scrum teams to help ensure quality automation code is delivered each sprint and release. As a functional manager, you will help define and champion automation testing best practices and guide the efforts of multiple teams towards improved code coverage, fewer production bugs, efficient automation test suites, and performant web and mobile application code.
Responsibilities
What you'll do:

  • Direct management of a team of QA automation engineers
  • Ownership of web application testing frameworks, including test code architecture and infrastructure (Azure + RSAT/Ranorex, AWS + Jenkins).
  • Regular communication with product and engineering leaders to ensure all features meet our quality standards
  • Establishing coding guidelines for automation tests, and enforcing these guidelines via code reviews.
  • Maintaining consistent regression suites and alerting the team of regression failures.
  • Mentoring QA developers in software quality, technical investigation of defects, defining clear test plans, and corner-case testing.
  • The leadership of our CI/CD efforts, including the exploration and adoption of new tools and processes.
  • Introduce and implement industry QA best practices to the teams and contribute to improving the team's overall functional craft.
  • Plan, scope, and manage the creation of automation frameworks, test plans, test cases, and other QA documentation.
  • Perform troubleshooting and hands-on testing of Cloud/Web/Mobile features.
  • File and track bugs from opening to closure after verification.
  • Create Reports on defects and manage follow-through as necessary to complete the testing cycle.
  • Provide timely status updates to leadership and manage the team in making decisions about release-readiness.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to understand support/field issues and drive solutions.
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned.


What you'll need:
Experience / Training / Education

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years managing software testers and developers.
  • 8+ years of software development and testing experience.
  • Solid foundation in object-oriented programming, algorithms, and data structures.
  • Highly methodical test discipline, applicable across a full-stack web environment including UI components, RESTful APIs, SQL/NoSQL, MongoDB, data testing, and server-side model-view-controller code.
  • Proven record of improving product test coverage and managing large suites of automated tests.
  • Knowledge of agile methodology and Scrum framework.
  • Experience with Selenium strongly desired Linux, Java, Selenium, SQL, AWS, or similar.
  • Experience troubleshooting high-usage, high-throughput systems.
  • Experience with client and server-side performance testing.
  • Experience with web application security, both detection, and prevention measures.
  • Project management and communication skills.

  • May be required to work overtime to complete work or projects
  • Drives personal vehicle to appointments; maintains a personal car insurance policy. Driving record must meet Company requirements
  • Travels by car and air on behalf of business
  • Meets all applicable safety requirements for the position and work environment
  • Completes other duties as assigned


Physical requirements/working conditions:

  • Sits at a computer station, meeting table or work desk for more than two-thirds of each day
  • Stands and walks to other stations and departments throughout the day
  • Uses hands and fingers to operate computers and office equipment most of the day
  • May stoop or crouch to access files or storage
  • Requires clear vision at 20 inches or less with or without corrective lenses
  • Hearing and speech within normal ranges and sufficient for clear communication face to face and especially via the telephone
  • Lifts up to 10 pounds regularly; lifts 25 pounds occasionally
  • Exposed to noise levels typical of office environments


Compensation:
The current range for this role based out of Aliso Viejo, CA is $124,000/yr - $150,000/yr.
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.
This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
