THE POSITION

The Cosm Engineering team develops technology to deliver best-in-class experiences in our digital and live streaming products. We are looking for a passionate and talented Senior Manager, QA Automation to lead our team and to ensure the quality of applications on mobile, VR and for our Venues and full software suite. As the architect and manager of QA Automation, you will play a key role in defining the strategy and architecture of our automation toolset. We expect all of our engineers and managers to be versatile, display leadership qualities, and to be enthusiastic when taking on new problems as we continue to push the technology forward.

REPORTS TO: Vice President, Engineering at Cosm

Location: Los Angeles, CA/Hybrid 

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating closely with our software engineers for scalable automated testing of our consumer application experiences, microservices, and tools for our production pipeline.
  • Creating and overseeing the execution of Test Plans, Test Cases and Test Scripts for detecting problems and ensuring the quality and success of the software.
  • Working with third parties and/or outsourced resources to coordinate testing on our partner applications.
  • Implementing functional and regression testing and developing software tools whenever necessary to automate the test suite.
  • Creating fully automated tests that can identify changes in video and app quality.
  • Building comprehensive test suites that will be utilized by overall engineering organization.
  • Building Load and Stress Test suites to ensure the performance and scalability of our applications.
  • Providing feedback to the Development team on the application areas to help in better automation.
  • Act as subject matter expert and escalation point for the day-to-day activities across the landscape of applications utilized by the business.
  • Defining processes and strategy associated with automation.
  • Managing and verifying content across a variety of apps and platforms.
  • Interfacing with stakeholders and senior management.
  • Researching and applying new technologies and best practices.
  • Monitoring always-on globally-distributed systems armed with a variety of tools and insights.

THE PERSON

The ideal candidate will be closely working with technical and business teams to plan, architect, develop and maintain automated tests and to develop best practices and automation roadmaps. You will be working in an energetic and highly creative environment along with a group of highly talented, passionate, and successful individuals.

Pivotal Experience, Expertise & Personal Characteristics:

  • 10+ years of experience in the software and application technology space as a Quality Assurance Engineer.
  • 6+ years experience of creating test frameworks and strategy, building automated tests, choosing testing tools, and creating testing standards.
  • Expertise writing code in Typescript/Javascript, Java, Python, Ruby or similar languages.
  • Expertise testing mobile native, hybrid and responsive site applications across multiple devices.
  • Expertise testing desktop software and hardware solutions.
  • Experience utilizing and scripting headless device platforms such as Browserstack, AWS Device Farm, Kobiton, etc…
  • Experience with Test Automation using Cypress/Selenium/Appium/Unium or similar tools.
  • Experience with streaming technologies is a big plus (ex: FFMPEG, NGINX, Wowza, knowledge of codec and streaming protocols).
  • Experience configuring, architecting and utilizing automated CI/CD systems and implementing tests at every step of the pipeline.
  • Experience working with JIRA for Requirements, Test and Defect Management.
  • Expert knowledge using API testing tools such as Postman, Jmeter, and Charles Proxy as well as automation of APIs.
  • Experience using version control and configuration management software such as git.
  • Experience testing for bugs and diagnosing from complete crashes to minor glitches in the code.
  • Demonstrated expertise in testing, releasing, and maintaining large-scale software applications.
  • Driven to automate your processes and document your work.
  • You’re not afraid of an open, candid, and respectful work environment.
  • Passion for video live-streaming, sports or eSports is a plus.
