Position Summary...
What you'll do...
The right assortment at the right price is a core coefficient of the Walmart retail strategy. The Market Intelligence team - part of the Retail & Data Services organization, pr ovides vital competitive assortment and pricing signals into that equation globally across a multitude of geographies for Walmart enterprise. With an integrated data-led platform, we enable Walmart to bring price and assortment advantages into retail, and drive repeat business through frictionless, personalized customer outcomes. We use highly scalable, fault-tolerant, and leading-edge web, cloud, data, and ML solutions to help our customers save money and live better every single day.
Our team believes in being EDHR - i.e., Everyday Holiday Ready - symbolizing the readiness for the scale/redundancy as if it's Black-Friday/Cyber Monday/Big Billion day every day.
This is a critical engineering leadership role that brings together your past engineering delivery experiences, people leadership skills and your abilities to build bonds with product managers, architects, other engineering leaders to develop platforms and products that operate at Walmart-scale. You will hire, mentor and lead by influence a world-class group of engineers across the geographies that are bound by a common Walmart-wide theme of creating elegant solutions for the complex problems and enable customers to save more and live better - every single day.
You'll sweep us off our feet if You have...

  • The overall 15+ years of industry experience with degree in Computer Science or related field
  • A t least 7-9 years of leadership experience in attracting talent, growing, mentoring and leading software engineering teams
  • Carry a strong sense of ownership and accountability, self-discipline, focus on quality, team orientation, design thinking, responsiveness, efficiency and innovation
  • Proven ability to work with distributed teams in a collaborative and productive manner
  • Adept at communicating and collaborating effectively with others, promoting your ideas as well as being humble when you may be wrong
  • Possess a passion for your team's vision/mission and the entrepreneurial drive to make things happen
  • Experience in the full software and data cycle of requirements, design, coding/testing, rollout/deploy standard methodologies in delivering world-class software and services
  • You are well versed with software and data lifecycle management practices, including deep interest in emerging technology trends within the industry
  • Hands-on experience in at least one programming language and database technologies
  • Experience in handling and triaging complex production issues
  • Possess solid understanding of building and integrating with stream-based and as well as RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL
  • Exposure to Azure, GCP, Kafka, NoSQL based cloud-native databases and big data technologies
  • Employed foundational SRE practices, including operational architectures, observability, reliability, availability and scalability

  • Hiring, mentoring, and leading by influence a world-class group of engineers to build a highly engaged in-house platform and products that operate at Walmart-scale
  • Inculcating the culture and values of growth mindset, technical entrepreneurship, design thinking, engineering excellence, data-first approach, and innovation
  • Being a role model for behaviors such as - being data-intensive while taking everyday decisions, approach everyday problems with scientific temperament and rigor, having a customer-first mind-set, maintaining the highest standards for operational and engineering excellence
  • Working with your teams and other technical leaders to ensure our coding and development processes are scaling and evolving with modern development/CI-CD/engineering practices
  • Co-creating the engineering roadmaps for the team and help transition our platforms to highly configurable and manageable micro-services architecture using next-gen technologies
  • Owning and driving the operational excellence and engineering excellence metrics
  • Engaging with Product Management and Business stakeholders to drive the agenda, set your priorities and deliver awesome platforms and products
  • Ensuring that you are on top of the hiring targets, operational excellence, budget management and the required operating rhythm.
  • Regularly interacting with Walmart engineering teams across geographies to leverage expertise and contribute to the vibrant tech community
