The IT & DevOps team forms the technological backbone of Mythic’s development efforts and is responsible for building, maintaining, and securing Mythic’s corporate IT and infrastructure for engineering teams.



About the role:

Mythic IT and DevOps is a team of six, looking to add our seventh. As a relatively small company, we are responsible for nearly every aspect of IT - network, compute, storage, and applications. 


You will be in a high-visibility role that involves understanding internal customer requirements, creating project plans and forecasting capacity requirements. You will have a mix of project and operations work, with most of your time dedicated to infrastructure projects. As a member of the team, you will join us in taking ownership of the uptime, performance, and throughput of all the company-wide systems we manage.

Here is what you will do:

  • Typical project work might include:
  • Designing and deploying entire IT systems from scratch (hardware, software, network connectivity)
  • Planning and executing the software and configuration upgrades to critical systems
  • Writing Ansible playbooks and roles for services we own
  • Scaling compute or storage infrastructure (rack/stack hardware, configuration)
  • Automating common tasks
  • Improving our security posture by addressing technical debt

  • Operational work will include:
  • Handling high-priority escalations from helpdesk
  • Resolving outages of systems we own
  • Configuring dashboards, monitoring, and logging for critical services
  • SaaS configuration (configuring SSO, role-based permissions, etc.)

Here is the background we hope you will have:

  • Exceptional systems thinking - must be able to study complex systems and quickly understand the component parts and how they interact

  • 5+ years experience with Linux system administration, such as:
  • Directory integration, especially with FreeIPA or LDAP
  • Package management
  • Filesystem and disk maintenance
  • OS/Kernel upgradesResource consumption analysis and performance tuning 
  • Firewall/iptables administration
  • Shared disk, NFS, NAS/SAN technology, and support experience

  • 1+ years of configuration management experience 
  • Ansible, Puppet, or Chef

  • Basic network administration experience:
  •  DNS & DHCP configuration
  • IPv4 subnetting and routing
  • L2 switching
  • HA and load balancing for systems you own

  • Working knowledge of scripting languages such as Bash, Ruby, Python, or similar
  • Past experience as project lead for high-visibility projects

The following would be nice to have, but not required:

  • Experience with job scheduling in a semiconductor environment (Platform LSF, OpenLava, Grid Engine, or Slurm)
  • Experience working at startups 
  • Experience at a semiconductor company
  • AWS or Google Cloud experience
  • Version control system administration experience (Perforce, GIT)
  • Client Engineering experience (JAMF, WSUS, SCCM, PDQ)
