The Senior Information Security Engineer is responsible for large-scale Active Directory security. You will participate and operate on large scale implementation from medium to high complexity of Active Directory environments, participating in engineering and operational responsibilities on the team to accomplish initiatives and tasks. This role is a key resource in the organization's effort to migrate, consolidate, and simplify Active Directory environments from mergers and acquisitions.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide subject matter expertise on large scale implementations of medium to high complexity
  • Act as an advisor on best practices for designing a robust architecture to enable the business
  • Maintain industry leading knowledge of current and emerging technologies, products, and trends related to Active Directory architecture and management
  • Participating in the definition and assisting programs that support the enterprise strategy and architecture for secure access management services, mechanisms and safeguards
  • Work in active partnership with stakeholders to understand business requirements and develop supporting security principles and objectives that will enable the secure growth and evolution of UnitedHealth Group (and communicating those requirements to security and risk management stakeholders throughout the enterprise)
  • Contributing to consistent patterns and frameworks to evolve the company's security architecture and a clear, comprehensive security framework (and promoting those requirements through partnership with enterprise architecture and IT governance functions)
  • Providing consulting to business owners and application teams in addressing their requirements to connect their application(s) or service(s) to Active Directory
  • Participating in the 24x7 On-Call rotation supporting the Active Directory infrastructure
  • Recommending changes, when appropriate, to security policies and control standards and operational practices
  • Provide weekly activity reports describing activities
  • Communicate effectively both orally and written with customers, stakeholders, and technical engineers
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently or in groups
  • Ability to create detailed technical documentation

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • 10 + years of experience designing, managing, or maintaining Active Directory environments for a large enterprise, or as a consultant to large organizations
  • 10+ years of experience troubleshooting Active Directory infrastructure issues (e.g. replication issues, authentication issues, performance issues, etc.)
  • 8 + years of experience utilizing monitoring tools (e.g. SCOM) to monitor and alert on Active Directory functionality and performance
  • 8 + years of experience utilizing configuration management tools (e.g. SCCM / MECM) to perform software distribution, updates, and configuration management of end points
  • 5+ years of experience in SaaS, PaaS, IaaS or Cloud computing environments
  • Familiarity with IT Governance standards including ITIL and CoBIT


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrable knowledge in one or more support tools (MS SQL, SCCM/MECM, InTrust, Change Auditor, Enterprise Reporter, RMAD)
  • Demonstrable knowledge of managing and maintaining Group Policy Objects (Quest GPOAdmin experience preferred)
  • Demonstrable knowledge in Microsoft Azure and Azure AD Connect
  • PowerShell or other scripting/programming language
  • Demonstrable collaboration, communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills
