Senior GEOINT Ground Systems Engineer

DESCRIPTION: SAIC is seeking a Senior GEOINT Ground Systems Engineer to provide systems engineering and technical advisory services in Chantilly, VA. This position plays a key role in helping the government integrate ground systems into its operational baseline. He/she provides subject matter expertise to the government in GEOINT ground systems design, architecture, cloud application development, system testing, and integration. This engineer collaborates with the ground sites and acquisition offices to understand respective equities and facilitates consensus towards successfully meeting operational needs.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee ground systems development and integration activities, collaborate with government personnel, OE and site Flight Engineers, and other contractors and (often across multiple sites and organizational levels) to provide unbiased analysis with recommendations on courses of actions or approaches to exploit an opportunity to best address operational needs.
- Assess integration activities in the context of cross-systems dependencies (technical, resource, and schedule) and present unbiased findings, analysis, and recommendations to the government managers.
- Participate in project or system reviews, milestones, and/or decision gates and represent the government's interests with other stakeholders.
- Support government requests for systems engineering and integration studies; process analysis and design; project management process assessments, etc. with a focus on process and resource efficiencies. He/she will present their analysis and present recommendations for implementation.
- Support the development or assessment of system Concept of Operations, Requirements Documents, Test Plans, Contract Statements of Work, Systems Engineering Plans, as well as contribute to the "staff work" requirements for the government (e.g. action items, weekly reports, etc.) to include support to government acquisitions and source selections.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and fourteen (14) years or more experience; Masters in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and twelve (12) years or more experience ; PhD or JD in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and nine (9) years or more experience. *STEM is a contractual requirement
Required Qualifications:
- Technical knowledge of GEOINT command and control, mission management, and mission processing systems.
- Experience with various systems development methodologies (AGILE, incremental, etc.)
- In-depth experience with NRO systems engineering and mission readiness processes; familiar with readiness events, control gates, and associated entry/exit criteria
- Experience with cloud technologies
- Familiar with GEOINT missions systems; launch and initialization activities, and operations
- Self-starter, proactively addresses customer requirements with no supervision; expert at defining solutions for broad, abstract topics
- Polished communicator (written/verbal); impeccable interpersonal skills and personal judgment
- Master at collaboration and coordination with multiple stakeholders -- consensus builder
- Top Secret/SCI clearance with Poly
Desired Qualifications:
- Real-time operations experience as a spacecraft operator or spacecraft engineer
- Familiar with MBSE/Digital Engineering
