Senior Gameplay Engineer
Overview
At Steel Wool, we’re searching for a Senior Gameplay Engineer to join the team who can help shape our engineering workflows for current and future projects. As a Senior Gameplay Engineer, you would work with team leads and the executive producer to architect game features and guide other engineers on solutions ranging from prototyping, implementing core systems, UI, AI, and other areas of the game. You will also be responsible for driving continuous improvement to the studio’s development process.
We are looking for individuals with confidence in their ability to drive change within the studio. We want folks who thrive in a collaborative environment and seek out challenging problems to solve with the internal teams and external partners. Ideally, you love lifting others up, educating them, and setting games up for success.
As a Senior Gameplay Engineer at Steel Wool, you would…
- Work closely with designers, artists, and other engineers to design and implement gameplay systems
- Grow the maturity of the development team to execute at improving levels of efficiency and experience
- Build tools and develop workflows to actively empower the art and design team
- Help prioritize and write up tasks, as well as develop workflows in order to set the rest of the team up for success
- Work with the production team to create a project plan that lays the foundation for gameplay systems development
Looking for someone who has…
- Strong Object Oriented Programming knowledge e.g. C , C++
- At least 3 shipped titles on PS5, PS4, XBSX, Xbox One, or PC
- Experience building gameplay systems using Unreal Engine 4
- A willingness to work with other disciplines and an abundance of curiosity
- Exemplary leadership capabilities and a strong drive for process improvements

- Fluency in Jira and Confluence.

We are offering a starting salary of $125,000 - $150,000 USD depending on experience and subject to market rate.
