Senior Full Stack Software Engineer

Overview of Position

We are looking for Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to work on an exciting project new to Change Healthcare that has both API and UI components. The Senior Full Stack Software Engineer will be an integral team member building on the next generation of a growing healthcare platform. This position requires analytical, design, problem solving skills and experience in building and operating large scale systems. The capacity to absorb new technologies, understand existing enterprise management tools, and the skill to leverage them to the maximum extent is a key component of this position. The ideal candidate will take a pragmatic and iterative approach to building software; have an ability to simplify and get things done with a demonstrated track record of building and delivering software.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

  • Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel
  • Plan, design, test, code and deliver high quality secure production software with completely automated tests suitable for cloud deployment at scale
  • Develop automated tests (TDD including unit, integration, smoke, acceptance tests) to achieve test coverage for continuous deployment and near 100% availability. Execute acceptance tests and maintain test artifacts in a shared repository. Add new tests when fixing defects.
  • Collaborate with Agile Team and Product Owner (PO) to refine user stories and acceptance criteria. Work with PO to confirm that the code and acceptance tests reflect the desired functionality. Work in small deliverable batches. Participate in planning and in committing to team and individual objectives.
  • Build defined epics and stories into releasable features and functions
  • Conduct research, spikes, design, prototyping and other innovation, exploration and learning activities
  • Pair programming when appropriate to develop code and associated automated tests
  • Participate in continuous improvement of the software itself, team's process, CI/CD, and development environments
  • Eliminate distractions, impediments, and wasteful work to optimize flow and velocity
  • Minimize technical debt and continuously improve and learn from mistakes, bugs, and refactoring
  • Help the team succeed in delivering potentially releasable and production ready software artifacts in every iteration
  • Demo progress/new features in every iteration
  • Execute software engineering assignments when provided high level business requirements and technical design guidelines from an architect with minimal supervision
  • Recognize strengths and limitations of team members, and adapt to leverage and mentor
  • Strong promotor and use of software engineering best practices to ensure a high standard of quality


What are the requirements needed for this position?

  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years' experience; or equivalent experience.
  • Software development during the required time with at least two modern programming languages (such as C#, Java, Go, Python)
  • Proficient with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React
  • Cloud technology experience - AWS preferred
  • Microservice architecture development experience
  • Understanding of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD)
  • Ability to breakdown requirements into stories and provide estimates, perform code reviews, raise technical risk and create documentation
  • Experience providing low-level design using established enterprise standards and technology
  • Writes clear, concise, and reusable code
  • Effective communication and collaboration
  • Strong curiosity and willingness to learn


What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

  • Proficient with database technologies, relational or NoSQL
  • Experience in Scrum/Agile development methodologies
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven record of influencing others
  • Ability to work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors
