The Data & Metrics team within the Financial Engineering mission builds data products and platforms that influence the future path of the Finance organization, and Spotify as a company. You will work on a vast data ecosystem that drives Spotify’s revenue recognition, forecasting algorithms and financial performance measurement and analysis. You will have a direct impact on the future of Spotify’s global business and product decisions!


As a fullstack engineer within Data & Metrics, you will be involved in building data and analytics platforms at scale to solve both business and technical use cases. We leverage the Google Cloud Platform and technologies such as React, Material UI, Typescript, GraphQL, REST, Flask and Apollo. You will work with the data science, data engineering, product and financial analytics communities to create products which unlock deep insights into the most critical decisions Spotify can make.

What You'll Do:

  • Closely work with product managers and business partners to come up with innovative ideas and engineering solutions to solve complex financial workflows with a direct impact on Spotify’s success
  • Work with frontend engineers to design and build data-rich user interfaces which inform critical business functions within Spotify
  • Work with data and backend engineers to architect stable, performant backend solutions
  • Work with the broader organization to set standards for front and backend communication protocols and API design
  • Design, develop and implement test-driven solutions, in line with evolving industry, and Spotify best practices
  • Mentor and lead junior engineers in software engineering methodology, design, and best practices

Who You are:

  • Have a degree in Computer Science or a similar field
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering and programming experience (Java, C++, Scala, Python)
  • 3+ years of experience development web-based frontend applications (Javascript, React, Angular)
  • 3+ years of architecture and design (patterns, reliability, scalability, quality) of complex systems
  • Comfortable working with multiple database systems and architectures (SQL, NoSQL)
  • Advanced coding skills, industry best practices, and experience in concurrency, distributed systems, functional principles & performance optimization
  • Professional experience working in an agile environment developing and maintaining production grade software
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and comfort working with multiple kinds of stakeholders
  • Experience as the technical lead for sophisticated software development projects tackling loosely defined problems, especially when working on a team which has autonomy in their day to day decisions
  • Experience working in a large scale, global consumer product company or in financial products is a plus
