Our Opportunity:

Chewy is seeking a Senior Front End Software Engineer in Boston, MA to work on consumer-facing Pet Health applications.

What You'll Do:

Build high-performance, responsive Single Page Web applications (SPAs) using React, Redux and CSS-in-JS
Work in an agile test-driven environment as a part of a dynamic development team
Ensure that technical solutions follow best practices, are reliable, easily maintainable and scalable under sustained load
Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers to build quality software
Bring industry best practices in terms of technology and process
Participate in design and code reviews

What You'll Need:

Minimum 6+ years experience as a software engineer
At least 5 years experience building responsive UIs in React and JavaScript ES6/7/8
Experience working with web services (REST)
Adherence to test-driven development methodologies within a CI/CD framework
Ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team
Willingness to work in a DevOps setting
Bachelor’s Degree (MIS or CS preferred) or equivalent work experience
Position may require travel

Being an entry-level engineer doesn’t mean working on entry-level projects. Recently, Shinde, an engineer on the delivery experience team, created an API that connects customer’s queries with shipment statuses, a project that could have a significant impact on Chewy’s bottom line. Natalie Liem knows her work on Chewy’s CarePlus pet insurance and wellness plans makes life better for both people and their pets. “Many friends and family members have struggled with unexpected vet bills or have had to compromise routine pet care because of the expenses entailed,” she said.
