Responsibilities
As a Senior Front-end Developer on our ExpertConnect ™ team in Urbandale, IA, you be challenged with utilizing your front-end engineering expertise to develop smart technology that enables our customers to make their job less complicated and their workday become more productive. ExpertConnect™ is our new multi-channel customer service platform designed specifically for centralized ticketing and remote support for heavy machinery.
Your day-to-day as Senior Software Engineer will involve developing and delivering applications and features that align with the ExpertConnect™ team's short- and long-term product roadmap and future geographical expansion plans. ExpertConnect™ was released last year in partnership with AgriSync , a startup we acquired in December to demonstrate our commitment to expanding this platform within our customer network moving forward.
Furthermore, the work you will accomplish in this role will be instrumental in achieving our goal of seamlessly integrating ExpertConnect™ with the multitude of external dealer business systems within our dealer network.
You will also be accountable for:

  • Developing, coding, configuring, and testing features for our ExpertConnect platform
  • Utilizing customer feedback to achieve rapid innovation through programming new features
  • Evaluating and implementing enhancement design solutions to improve cost, quality, and performance
  • Collaborating with stakeholders and team members to ensure that features you develop meet business needs
  • Mentoring and coaching software engineers within John Deere

What Skills You Need

  • 4+ years of Front-end software development experience, specifically utilizing Front-end technologies such as JavaScript, TypeScript, and more, to deliver web and mobile applications
  • 4+ years of exposure to collaborating on Agile/Scrum development teams
  • Familiarity with utilizing GitHub for collaboration and Visual Studio Code to edit code
  • Expertise in product design and development, test-driven development, and software analysis
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline OR 4+ years of equivalent front-end development experience


What Makes You Stand Out

  • 2+ years of experience with coaching and mentoring other software engineers
  • Broad Full stack development experience and strong knowledge of the NET framework
  • Track record of developing and delivering software using C#
  • Ability to utilize Xamarin or similar development platforms to build native applications
  • Proficiency in utilizing JS Frameworks to create and use Single-Page Applications
  • Knowledge of languages, frameworks, and SDKs such as Kotlin, Flutter, Cordova, and Unity
  • Strong understanding of using Markdown to convert text to HTML
  • Familiarity with WebRTC and SLA/SLI definitions and ownership
  • Expertise in DevOps, reliability engineering, and application monitoring


Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline OR 4+ years of equivalent front-end development experience in lieu of degree
