About the job
The Red Hat Digital Experience team is looking for a Senior Front-End Developer to join us. In this role, you will be an integral part of the Front-End Development team, building out Red Hat's front-end architecture for our enterprise websites (redhat.com, ansible.com, openshift.com) by creating components and patterns for our design system. You will need to efficiently deliver on business priorities and designs in an agile framework, while also adding valuable front-end perspective to the implementation of UX and UI designs. Come prepared to work in a fast-paced environment alongside talented developers and designers. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
What you will do

  • Enhance and maintain components and patterns within our design system
  • Provide architectural guidance on front-end code structure and organization
  • Design and write global front-end interactions using CSS and JavaScript
  • Write functionality, styles, schemas, and templates for components and patterns
  • Provide code review for other front-end developers, emphasizing coding best practices and standards


What you will bring

  • 5+ years of proven front-end development experience in a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) or product-based company
  • Proficient understanding of semantic web markup, CSS3, Sass, and ES6 JavaScript
  • Proficient understanding of Twig templating language or similar templating language
  • Proficient understanding of Git
  • Proficient understanding of how to solve cross-browser compatibility issues
  • Experience with design systems like Pattern Lab
  • Experience with writing automation assertion tests and visual regression tests
  • Experience with JSON Schemas
  • Ability to evaluate third-party libraries for use on enterprise-level websites
  • Experience with package dependency management like NPM or Yarn and creating functions within task runners like Grunt or Gulp
  • Solid understanding of search engine optimization best practices
  • Excellent time management and communication skills
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and tools


The following will be considered a plus:

  • Experience building web components
  • Experience with Drupal, HubSpot, and Adobe Marketing Cloud
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop, and XD; ability to perform small adjustments to design mockups and inspect to find specifications
  • Experience with CSS organization methodologies like SMACSS and BEM
