The Medtronic Metals Manufacturing Platform is looking for a Senior Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead a team of managers and or supervisors in support of project execution, manufacturing support, and maintenance engineering. You will be responsible for bringing leadership through strong development of strategy and vision in support of complex metal manufacturing. This manufacturing is leveraging cutting edge processes as well as unique materials such as Nitinol in the creation of medical devices.

This role is a leader of leaders - with a focus on people and talent development. A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Overall responsibility managing the Manufacturing Engineering (Project), Sustaining Engineering (Daily Operations Support), and Maintenance Technician teams.
  • Active member of the site Tier IV executive leadership team.
  • Drive employee engagement and development as a Leader of Leaders and future Leaders.
  • Develop future leaders in pipeline roles in support of the Metals Manufacturing Platform, the Plymouth Nathan Lane site, and overall the Medtronic talent pool.
  • Responsible for shaping the technology transformation strategy for the Nathan Lane site in support of complex metal manufacturing operations and medical devices.
  • Actively manage the team with projects including identifying tasks, creating development plans, allocating work assignments, and tracking status.
  • Develop and mentor group members with individual meetings, annual reviews, formal training, development plans and other tools to achieve development goals.
  • Provide technical assistance to other functional departments such as Operations, EHS, Continuous Improvement, PMO, Quality, R&D, Supplier Quality, Supply Management, etc.
  • Maintain relationships with equipment suppliers and process support suppliers.
  • Facilitate and participate in interdepartmental core teams and reviews
  • Recruit, retain and develop top technical talent.
  • Manage functions to ensure that activities are performed in compliance with Medtronic's Quality System requirements and EHS policies.
  • Recommend and implement training programs to address skill requirements necessary to facilitate internal promotions and job satisfaction to maximize productivity of the Joining Team.
  • As applicable, provide cross-training for Engineers and managers to ensure back-up personnel exist for all key positions.
  • Participate in cross-facility initiatives to determine company-wide best practices and the improvement of business processes.
  • Monitor documentation maintenance throughout all phases of research and development.



Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience


Nice to Have

  • Experience developing technology transformation development and operations transformation strategies
  • Experience growing a team of young raw talent on a path of operations excellence and technical rigor
  • Lean / Six Sigma experience
  • Medtronic Operating System (MOS) / Cell Operating System (COS) knowledge
  • DRM
  • CFR part 11
  • ISO 13485
