Job Description
Nordstrom's Supply Chain seeks a dynamic leader to support and expand our supply chain capabilities. In this role you will support the software responsible for the operations of a complex fulfillment center, and build a team to support the planning and allocation of labor for all of Nordstrom's warehouses. You will work with business leaders to understand the company's needs and work with your teams to create solutions. You are a highly technical leader with a bias towards action and the ability to drive consensus. You are comfortable discussing software architecture and leveraging data to influence decisions. You have a proven understanding of the fundamentals of agile processes, deep knowledge of software development lifecycle and an experience to draw from that helps you build towards a future state while making smart tradeoffs to meet current objectives. You are a creative problem solver and you know how to measure and improve your products and teams.
Key initiatives that you will drive...

  • Help transform the Nordstrom Supply Chain network, using data to ensure effective use of warehouse staff in response to demand, quality of labor and supply of goods
  • Support software that optimizes processes in an automated warehouse facility


A day in the life...

  • Responsible for architecture and solution level design at the team level
  • Support multiple teams and initiatives in building complex software solutions
  • Ensure team has the tools, resources, and information they need to be successful
  • Work with internal and external partners to define and execute projects
  • Influences, coaches and mentors beyond the scope of own team
  • Influence quality standards and understand, identify and measure across an entire solution
  • Assist in enhancing department vision and strategies to support company goals and receive guidance from more senior leaders
  • Create training opportunities for team to learn the latest technologies and methodologies
  • Hire capable and motivated talent/teams that can deliver swiftly and predictably, adjusting in an agile fashion to deliver solutions aligned with business needs
  • Contribute to architecture, coding, test plans, project plans, deployment planning and operations to drive excellence and lead team towards its goals
  • Employ continuous improvement methodologies across own team (e.g. quantifies impacts customer first, waste elimination, increased productivity, iterates quickly, shorten feedback loop, experience creating relevant KPIs)


You own this if you have...

  • 7+ years of hands-on professional experience in delivering quality software, ideally across the full stack
  • 5+ years leading teams
  • Proven track record of delivering well designed systems with hands-on experience ranging from designing and architecting, built for scale and tested for performance. Experience designing full-stack solutions is preferred
  • Proficiency in an Object-Oriented language, such as Java or C#
  • Experience with public cloud technologies, proficiency with AWS a plus
  • Working knowledge of Kafka streaming technologies and Kubernetes
  • Experience with dev-ops best practices, CI/CD, alerting, monitoring, A/B testing and 24/7 production support.
  • Experience with agile software development, such as SCRUM or Kanban
  • Experience with High Jump or other WMS systems preferred
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering

Colorado: $151,000-$233,500 annually
