About the Role

As the engineering leader on our Consumer team, you will oversee teams responsible for the direct to consumer user experience.

In this role, you will work closely with Product, Design, User Research, and other stakeholders to build fullstack features that educate and support users through the pre-application, application, package select, and checkout funnels. You will lead, strategize, develop and execute projects to optimize conversion rates through AB tests. You will collaborate with our Underwriting, Enterprise Sales, and Data engineering teams to support the entire user and event lifecycle and data model. You will work with Senior Engineers to decompose an existing monolithic application into scalable micro services. 

The Consumer team is responsible for the customer journey and is the largest revenue driver across the company. You will be joining at a critical time to drive outsized impact, define organizational strategy and shape team culture.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead high-impact tech and product initiatives in order to accelerate our business growth.
  • Work closely with product, design, content and marketing to ideate and experiment with new product strategies.
  • Use quantitative and qualitative insights to make data-informed decisions.
  • Obsess over your pod's core metrics and KPIs.
  • Uphold a strong bar for engineering velocity, delivery and execution.
  • Review design, architecture and help mentor the team.
  • Recruit, hire, grow, and retain A+ engineering talent.
  • Provide meaningful feedback to your team to enable their work and growth.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 3+ years of engineering management experience in high-growth engineering organizations
  • 5+ years of engineering experience as an individual contributor
  • Experience building large, business critical projects which are highly cross functional in nature and require a deep understanding of business logic
  • Demonstrated ability to work closely with product to craft a strategy for new business opportunities
  • Ability to own consumer-focused metrics like ARPU, conversion, retention, and churn.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, adept at working in a cross-functional group.
  • Be a self-starter, you are able to get things going without much guidance.
  • Experience implementing process best practices within a rapidly growing team.
  • Know how to build focused roadmaps and make difficult trade-offs.
