As a Global Facilities Ultrapure Water and Wastewater Treatment Systems Project Engineer at Micron Technology, Inc., you will be responsible to provide high quality engineering services and specifications for the planning, design, construction, Start-up and Commissioning of your subject area specific Facilities systems in support of semiconductor manufacturing across the Micron Global Manufacturing Network.
Responsibilities and Tasks
Project Team Subject area Lead

  • Coordinate System Design between GFTT, Local Project Team, Vendors, GC, etc.
  • Management Field Scope Change Process and documentation.
  • Provide Project Procurement Technical Support.
  • Ensure all Project scope is implemented to Safety Standards and requirements. Review all Job plans for high risk during construction in discipline-related areas /scope.
  • Coordinate and Report progress weekly on Project progress, risk, schedule, the cost for Field.
  • Lead all aspects of Disciplines installation Q&A assurance and Testing and Commissioning Activities.
  • Coordinate and Lead Project Closeout activities for Team; Punch listing and verification, Documentation and System Handover.
  • When not assigned as on-site Team Project Engineer, your responsibilities will be to participate in capacity and scenario planning, specification development and support system troubleshooting, and technical issue resolution across all areas and evaluate the impact of changes. In this role, you will support the Facilities Teams and cross function Manufacturing sites as a subject matter expert in design, start-up, operations, maintenance and will ensure environmentally, safety, regulatory, and code compliance.
  • Periods when assigned as an on-site site Team Project Engineer your responsibilities will be to participate in Project Design and Scope Development, Documentation, and Control Change, Vendor Selection, Project Tendering, and onsite Team Project Safety, Coordination, and Execution for your team.

Responsibilities:
Design and Plan Systems and Buildings

  • Provide system designs for safe operations and maintenance
  • Develop, review, and maintain the equipment and component specifications/standards for the corporation.
  • Ensure material compatibility
  • Ensure designs align with all applicable standards, codes, and regulations
  • Reviewing of the capacity planning databases (with Base Build capacities, POC assignments, and actual field conditions) across the network and validating utilization and diversity factor assumptions.
  • Review and advise sites on periodic system status presentations (system capacity, actual load, and projected loads based on all approved scenarios, key system accomplishments, and challenges/issues)
  • Assist sites with the evaluation system and distribution capacity impacts based on scenario changes as requested.
  • Review and give counsel on the scope for facilities infrastructure additions or modifications.

Provide Project Support

  • Provide Micron specifications and standards to Design Firms, review detailed designs for the installation of new facilities infrastructure.
  • Provide support for cost and schedule estimates and justification for approval
  • Provide supervision and coordination of consultant resources required
  • Ensure appropriate communication with local facilities, Design, Construction, Procurement, and manufacturing partners to deliver project objectives and results.
  • Be responsible for the timely review of design packages and providing documented comments and feedback.
  • Work with appropriate personnel to address problems or make corrections
  • Ensure that scope meets requestor needs
  • Ensure organizational change procedures are followed.
  • Supervise progress and provide engineering/design support during construction per project as needed.

Provide Technical Support, Leadership, and Expertise

  • Provide consultation and support to Operations, Maintenance and Manufacturing as Technical Field Subject Matter Authority.
  • Analyze system crafts to identify improvements that will result in better performance, efficiency gains, reduced maintenance, and cost savings
  • Support sites with problem analysis using standard tools and methodologies as requested.
  • Provide Technical leadership and support the Procurement group on vendor qualifications, Vendor Selection, and mediation needed.
  • Conduct risk and failure mode and effects analysis
  • Eliminate single points of failure and mitigate risk
  • Benchmark within and external to Micron sites on engineering and design BKMs of Facilities buildings and systems
  • Own and maintain Corporate Facility of Record (FOR) Standards.
  • Maintain groundbreaking applicable validated experience (chemical theory, instrumentation control theory, high purity principles, etc.)
  • Maintain equipment support knowledge (reaction modes/mechanisms, hazard protocol, leak detection, etc.)

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering required, Master's Degree desired.
  • Minimum 10-year experience in UPW or WWT Engineering with a focus on Design and Construction of Semiconductor UPW and Industrial Wastewater Treatment and Reclamation System Distribution and equipment.
  • Ability to prioritize and schedule workload and work on multiple tasks concurrently
  • Good organizational skills and Service attitude
  • Excellent communication skills and good team working skills, English required
  • Self-motivated worker
  • Familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing and facilities systems
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 50% of the time
  • Ability to complete onsite assignments within geographical region for 12-18 months.


Plans facilities changes for plant, office, and production equipment layouts, working toward economy of operation, maximum use of facilities and equipment, and compliance with laws and regulations. Coordinates with architecture/engineering firms in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detail drawings. Prepares bid sheets and contracts for construction and facilities acquisition. Reviews and estimates design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation and other related costs. Inspects construction and installation progress for conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules. Develops criteria and performance specifications required to meet unique operating requirements and building and safety codes.
