Job description: Sr. Engineer - Config/System Integration
The Test Data Systems team is responsible for the Automation and Data Acquisition Systems (DAS) used in engine development labs in Mossville-US and Peterborough-UK. We work closely with Validation, Performance, Emissions, Instrumentation and Facilities teams to ensure maximum return from time spent in the test cell. We deliver a comprehensive, feature rich, flexible, optimized and robust set of automated test solutions (logic and infrastructure) that can be used by our partners to efficiently develop power systems.
As a Senior Engineer based in Mossville, Illinois, you will be responsible for the successful implementation and deployment of new requirements, features, improvements and bug fixes within our test automation platform. You will help develop our test solutions to provide a robust, maintainable and cutting-edge platform that works for all our customers' needs. You will work closely within a global team comprised of Product Owners, Software Architects, Automation Developers and Testers. You will create and maintain an organizational climate and culture which encourages innovation, collaboration, excitement, commitment and a sense of urgency towards business success.
Job duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Automation support and development
- Collaborate with test cell operators and development engineers to identify improvement opportunities and resolve issues
- Manage controlled content within our automated test solutions (Data Dictionary, Performance & Emissions Calculations etc.)
- Work closely with the team to design, develop, validate and deploy test automation features
- Work directly on complex technical problems to identify root causes and develop solutions in a timely manner.
- Troubleshoot automation bugs and system integration issues efficiently and effectively
- Research new technology, architectures, frameworks, and products to be incorporated into the current or future automation suite
Leadership & global collaboration
- Provide leadership and guidance to automation developers and testers
- Work closely with Product Owners and Architects to ensure our solutions perform for all the sites we support
Basic qualifications and requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in an accredited Engineering or Computer Science curriculum
- 5+ years' experience in relevant areas such as test scripting/automation development in a lab environment, electronic system integration, mechatronics, engine/power-system development
- Ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in the work group, as well employees in other units, customers, and suppliers.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Top candidates will also have:
- Electronic / digital system integration experience
- Experience in applying automation in a test facility or lab environment
- Experience with current automation and data acquisition software/tools: FEV Morphee, Vector CANape
- Similar tools where experience may be leveraged: AVL Puma/Lynx, dSpace control-desk/automation-desk, ETAS Inca, NI Labview/Veristand, NI Diadem, Simulink etc.
- Passion for automation and methodical engineering practices
- Software development experience (Python, C# etc.)
