Senior Embedded Test Software Engineer
Overview
We are seeking a full-time Senior Embedded Test Software Engineer for our headquarters in the greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for providing leadership in the development of testing modules, verification of products, or testing suite upgrades in support of new technology or automation of testing for products, applications, or systems new to Garmin. (This is not a remote position; it is hybrid - 3 days in office / 2 days at home).
Essential Functions
- Serves in a leadership capacity for designing well architected testing modules supporting new technology, automation or increasing test effectiveness and efficiency
- May serve as a Lead Engineer for verification of a complete product or upgrading a testing suite
- Designs and/or reviews testing methodologies
- Researches fundamental problems and implements solutions that are fit for purpose
- Balances quality, quantity and complexity in work output
- Offers peer technical assessments in areas of expertise, new technologies and tools
- Provides continuous integration and regression testing support
- Independently determines general approach and specific solutions to technical problems
- Offers process improvement suggestions and authors new procedures as appropriate
- Provides reliable solutions to a wide range of difficult problems using sound problem solving techniques and applies good judgment in setting schedules/risk taking
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Math, Physics or a related field AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
- Demonstrated proficiency for designing well architected testing modules that support new technology or improve efficiency/automation of existing functionality
- Competence with researching fundamental problems and implementing appropriate solutions
- Ability to serve as a lead engineer for verification of a complete product
- Demonstrated capability to offer peer technical assessments in areas of expertise, new technologies and software testing
- Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
