ABOUT THE ROLE:

Zipline is looking for experienced Senior Embedded Software Engineers to advance our autonomous aircraft and ground systems.

We trust our team. You will quickly find yourself involved in critical product decisions, challenged to shape our system architecture and to mentor others.

Zipline values engineering solutions that are both innovative and practical. We deliver, rain or shine, at a scale no other drone company can. We are integrated into national health care systems and are responsible for delivering life saving products when minutes count.

Among our current challenges:

• Scale our flight and distribution center software to allow 10,000 medical deliveries a day
• Prototype, test, and refine next generation systems working alongside our mechanical and electrical engineering teams
• Develop perception solutions for any weather and any real world environment
• Achieve safety and reliability goals beyond the current state of the art

Most roles are based in our headquarters in South San Francisco, California. During the pandemic, the team has adopted a balance of home and office based work.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

You write quality code, and know how to verify its performance  in the real world. You have the judgment to see where a project can be improved, to design a solution, and to see it through to release. You keep the end user and customer in mind in your work. You are comfortable communicating across a diverse engineering team, picking up new skills and sharing your knowledge.

Technical:

• Strong skills in embedded software. You are comfortable in one or more of: C, C++, Rust
• Experience as part of a team releasing and supporting safety critical code
• Comfortable working at the OS kernel and driver layer for Embedded Linux and/or RTOSes
• Demonstrated technical leadership in autonomous vehicles, IoT, or related fields
