Thomson Reuters Tax and Accounting Professional team is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer who will be responsible for providing the day to day application support of the Tax & Accounting Professional on-line hosted products operating within Thomson Reuters Data Centers and Amazon Web Services. Working closely with Thomson Reuters Data Center Operations teams and local Development teams, the Senior DevOps Engineer will help ensure availability, stability and performance of Tax & Accounting Professional products.

About the Role

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will:

  • Participate in the implementation, deployment and maintenance of TRTA Professional online applications and related tooling
  • Perform daily tasks and ongoing projects relative to operational and application support of TRTA Professional products. These tasks include monitoring, backup / restores, application availability, scheduled / non-scheduled maintenance, release management, code deployment and configuration management.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with Thomson Reuters Data Center and TRTA Professional Development staff
  • Drive efficiency and accuracy through scripting, automation, documentation and continual process improvement
  • Work to resolve technical issues escalated from other teams and/or external customers
  • Respond to and resolve alerts from application monitoring systems to ensure product stability
  • Documentation of application management, configuration management, release management, systems architecture and administrative processes
  • Work with leadership to provide regular status reports of given project tasks
  • Act as an escalation point for other team members to reach out to for assistance



Our tech stack: Windows and Linux Servers, MSSQL, MySQL, Oracle and PostgreSQL Database Servers, Tomcat, Apache, Nginx, IIS Applications Servers, Microsoft Exchange, Jenkins, Enterprise Storage, Software deployment and lifecycle management software, Public and Private Cloud Technologies

About You

You're a fit for the role of a Senior DevOps Engineer if you have:

Basic qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience hosting cloud native applications with Amazon Web Services
  • Solid Windows and/or Open Source (Linux) Systems Administration skillset
  • Experience with Software Development Life Cycle and deployment methodologies
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services technologies including Cloud Formation, Elastic Load Balancer, Auto Scaling Groups, Route 53 and Cloud Watch
  • Experience with Linux/Unix Shell Scripting, Windows scripting, Python or other programming languages



Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with Containerization technologies like Docker and/or Configuration Management technologies like Chef or Puppet
  • A fundamental understanding of networking such as DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, routing, switching, firewalls, load balancers and WAN connections
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Information Systems or equivalent experience
