Department OverviewThe Cloud Infrastructure Engineering team is responsible for the development and operations of critical cloud infrastructure and platform services, in support of Motorola Solutions' public and hybrid cloud-based Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions for public safety customers. This team is part of Motorola Solutions’ Software Enterprise division, which offers secure, reliable and efficient team communications, workflow and operational intelligence solutions for mission-critical public safety and enterprise markets throughout the world. Our services leverage Cloud Computing infrastructure to build at scale. The Cloud Infrastructure team is responsible for: Development and operation of common platform services that can be leveraged by our SaaS solutions; Overall reliability and security of these services and the cloud environments; Monitoring, alerting, and support for these platform and infrastructure services; Developer enablement with metrics collection and reporting

Motorola Solutions is growing and we are looking for SRE’s to join our team.
As a Site Reliability Engineer on this team, you will be a key contributor to product development activities for our team, accompanied by teams in Texas, Seattle, Salt Lake City, and Chicago. These teams are developing frameworks, services, tools, and processes to support other Motorola Solutions' engineering teams as well as deliver solutions to our customers. You will be working on a high-velocity, results-oriented team that leverages cutting-edge technologies and techniques. The right individual will be motivated and will have a passion for automation, deployment processes, and enabling innovation. Your efforts will help to shape the engineering culture and best practices across Motorola Solutions’ Software Enterprise organization.
Responsibilities
Design and implement core services used by our Public Safety cloud solutions
Define and meet scalability, availability, security, and performance goals
Research and experiment with key technologies, architectures, and standards
Attend daily stand-up meetings, collaborate with your peers, prioritize features, and work with a sense of urgency to deliver value to your customers
Assist with supporting Production systems (includes troubleshooting issues and aiming to resolution)
Understand complex technical details and build test methodologies for them
Collaborate with the engineering team on projects as the expert on reliability, performance, and efficiency
Build resilient services which utilize telemetry and metrics to drive operational excellence
Develop highly repeatable processes and have a mindset to automate everything from deploying software to mitigating system failures
Manage auto-scaling of infrastructure and instance to right-size workload and performance
Drive improvements to the product build and testing solutions
Take part in a 24x7 on-call rotation
Submit and implement change requests and create "blameless" root cause analysis on infrastructure issues, in a fast-paced environment
Document current and future configuration processes and policies
Build systems and tooling experience, including testing and analysis
Runbook / workflow / event-based automation
Qualifications
Exceptional experience in Site Reliability (https://landing.google.com/sre/)
Experience with Azure DevOps and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Powershell, Azure Cli and ADO templates
Enterprise level experience in deploying, provisioning and utilizing Docker, Azure App Services, AKS, ACR, Azure Storage, ARM templates
Experience in managing, securing, Azure subscription using industry standard security models
Experience with Git and different different merge flow strategies
Strong ability to inspire engineering and support teams to up their reliability game
Experience with LaunchDarkly and PagerDuty
Exceptional experience troubleshooting enterprise scale platforms; building such platforms a plus
Experience with monitoring and logging tools and platforms
Experience with Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD)
Exceptional track record of solving complex problems with technology (automation, ML, etc.)
Exceptionally forward thinking and innovative - stay on top of the latest trends, technologies, etc.
Experience working in a fast paced Agile/Scrum environment
Strong hands-on experience with PowerShell (Modules, DSC, etc.)
Exceptional Azure experience using Azure Gov and public clouds
Configuration management tools (PowerShell DSC, ARM Templates, SaltStack, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, etc.)
Ability to work in a fast paced, evolving, growing and agile environment
Strong level of curiosity and interest to learn
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or relevant engineering discipline - preferred
This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers
