Job Description

About the position
The Animal Health IT Supply Chain Technical Lead will be the go-to in developing capabilities in the Aera platform as well as other Supply chain tools. As a leader in a matrixed environment, you will be hands on in the development of customer centric analytics and Cognitive Skills capabilities in the Aera platform, R Shiny apps and other tools. You will cultivate an environment that generates innovative ideas, and you will execute them in partnership with internal business partners, IT colleagues, and outside vendors. As a Technical Lead you will design, architect and build the Aera system of intelligence for our Company's Animal Health division as well as other supply chain and procurement solutions, supported by tooling like R / RShiny.

We are the Information Technology (IT) organization of our Animal Health company. Within IT, our team is responsible for partnering with business leaders to provide technology solutions that enable Animal Health to be agile, data driven and ensure reliability of product supply. The position reports to the Animal Health IT Account Manager for Supply Chain and Procurement.
Primary Responsibilities

  • Work closely with business partners and product owners to pro-actively identify and interpret business needs and developing quality and optimized applications.
  • Gather business requirements for new solutions in design sprints via (interactive) workshops, using various techniques like 'Value Stream Mapping'. Assess feasibility and estimate effort to build the solution.
  • Translate business requirements into a technical conceptual design for the solution (from back-end architecture to front-end visualization).
  • Develop quality solutions in both agile and scalable methodologies, taking responsibility for the quality and testing of the software that you and the team produces. Leverage advanced SQL and Java knowledge to deliver high quality and performing outputs. Communicate results and ideas to key decision makers.
  • Develop and own ongoing support for capabilities which are built including training documentation, wiki pages, and product guides.
  • Drive compliance with our Company's cyber security standards and Software Development Lifecycle management methodology, as well as architectural standards.
  • Lead performance review and quality checks ensuring optimization and other standards for developments are met resulting in high quality applications that drive business results.
  • Research and evaluate Aera capabilities and other technologies, making recommendations for new capabilities that are aligned with the company's strategic goals and improve business decision making abilities.
  • Ensure that the solutions are aligned with global initiatives while also flexible enough to meet local needs.
  • Collaborate and embrace the diversity and global nature of the team.


Qualifications, Skills & Experience Required

  • B.Sc. or higher in computer science, statistics, applied mathematics or related discipline.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, data modeling and data structures for high-volume and high-velocity data.
  • 4+ years of experience building, architecting, and designing enterprise applications.
  • Experience with data warehousing concepts (Kimball, Data Vault).
  • Experience with Python/R/Rshiny preferred.
  • Experience as a Java developer preferred.
  • Experience with data visualization software such as PowerBi and Spotfire.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Proficiency in Aera preferred.
  • Self-driven and quick learner.
  • Team player.
