Pratt & Whitney Hot Section Engineering Support to Operations (HSE ESTO) is seeking a goal oriented, detail-focused Senior Design Engineer - HSE ESTO Comb-Diff & Frames-Cases to work as a lead point of contact for our commercial and military specific hardware and program needs based in East Hartford, CT.

Key Responsibilities:

Proactive

  • Plan and manage corrective action activities that drive Quality Notification (QN) reduction.
  • Prepare, present status and technical content to Component Integrated Product Team (CIPT), HSE/ESTO Management and Program management.
  • Become Subject Matter Expert (SME) for applicable part families and engine hardware.
  • Identify areas of waste - time or money within production support process.
  • Eliminate repeat analysis through proactively addressing repeat QNs.
  • Continue to challenge current process and procedures "the way we do business" to identify areas for improvement.
  • Capture ESTO producibility lessons learned. Drive continuous improvement into product development cycle.
  • Determine path to improve discipline health and personal proficiency with end goal to become CIPT delegate Approver for applicable hardware part families.
  • Enable and drive outsource responsible parties' path towards delegate approval.
  • Coordinate Class II Engineering Change packages to improve quality, cost and producibility metrics.
  • Incorporate Pro-Cert methodology and data driven decision making into Class II process.
  • Lead Cost of Poor-Quality initiatives and producibility improvement tasks.
  • Engage cross functional teams (quality, supplier, design, structures, etc.) to drive root cause investigations, develop associated corrective actions, and implement product and process improvements.


Reactive

  • Coordinate and lead teams to meet task technical and schedule requirements.
  • Opportunity to grow communication and leadership skills through:
    • Driving outsource teams QN workflow
    • Managing outsource technical quality
    • Growing outsource technical proficiency
  • Increased visibility within Component Integrated Product Teams by being main point of contact for all QN activity.
  • Support rapid closure of Stop Delivery Order (SDO) investigations.
  • Establish best practices for defect assessment and defining "Right-size Analysis" through risk-based decision-making process.
  • Coordinate evaluation and response to Supplier Requests for Information (eSRI).
  • Support engineering related efforts to meet shop and supplier Materials Resource Planning (MRP) requirements.
  • Grow experience by supporting 502 and 701 task closure (5 day).


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent experience and 5+ years of prior relevant experience.
  • Advanced Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a related field and 3+ years prior relevant engineering experience.
  • Work Schedule - Hybrid.
  • US Citizenship required due to government contracts.
  • Travel up to 10%.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in the Aerospace Industry in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous commercial & military aerospace experience.
  • Working proficiency with MS Office, Teamcenter, SAP, Unigraphics.
  • Ability to craft clear communication and build positive relationships.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and cultural awareness.
  • Looking for passionate and innovative individual with an eye on improvement.
