Job Description

The position specializes in Jamf/Mac Management and is responsible for implementing and supporting the systems and technologies that comprise the end user computing environment. This position will implement and manage the technology infrastructure that supports Macs. This position also builds detailed infrastructure solutions/repeatable patterns (build-kits) for non-production and production environments, transitioning knowledge to infrastructure operations, and lead level 3 support. You are the subject matter expert for Macs and Jamf and in this role, you and your team will directly influence the macOS end-point management roadmap at Ameriprise.

The ideal candidate is an expert IT end user engineer who has proven experience designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining a standard end user delivery model. You will apply this expertise across all aspects of the end user service design framework to deliver a superior colleague experience which is scalable, sustainable, and supportable. You should possess system knowledge in the areas of MacOS Imaging, Patching, System Certificates, and Active Directory authentication using Enterprise Connect, AzureAD SSO, and CIS security hardening guidelines to effectively support and grow these technologies

This position will not be solely limited to Jamf/Mac management and the preferred candidate will be someone who has the ability to dive into new technologies, take ownership and drive improvements to whatever assignments come your way. You will define, engineer, and implement enterprise strategy for a wide variety of end user experience services and technologies.

Support complex enterprise architectures by developing, designing, configuring and implementing detailed engineering strategies/solutions that meet and/or exceed capability, flexibility, scalability, performance and reliability objectives for a variety of large projects, across multiple technologies, within technical area of expertise. Provide technical leadership to team/vendor/contractor resources, ensuring viability of designs, flawless execution, and seamless transition into the production environment.

Provide Technical and Operational Governance across the End User Computing environment

Design, enhance and implement End User Compute platforms and infrastructure to support the requirements of the business with an eye for continual improvement, including speed of delivery and user experience.

Work with other technology groups to streamline effective processes and drive continuous improvement for EUC infrastructure, services and support.

Keep abreast of developments within the IT Industry that End User Computing Services are kept in line with defined or emerging industry standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and troubleshooting skills
  • Familiarity with Networking HW, LAN and Wi-Fi, DNS, Proxy and Firewall configurations
  • Understanding of networking concepts such as IPv4, IPv6, TCP/UDP.
  • Understanding of information security concepts, such as RBAC, SSO, MFA, etc.
  • Knowledge of network services such as NTP, SNMP, RADIUS, Syslog, etc.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory/LDAP users and groups
  • Experience managing PKI certificates
  • Jamf 200 and 300 certifications
  • Experience with Microsoft Endpoint Manager and InTune
  • Previous experience with major 3rd party vendors like Cisco, Microsoft, and Adobe
  • Implementation and/or operational experience in a wide range of End User technologies and capabilities such as Windows OS, MacOS, VMWare, Citrix, browser technologies, desktop utilities and end user productivity applications.
  • Previous experience with Cloud computing and collaboration technologies such as cloud device management, Office 365, MS Teams, cloud end user security solutions, Box, Slack, Zoom, etc.
  • Previous experience working with wide range of stakeholders to define new solutions, fully leverage existing solutions where appropriate, and continuously drive forward a user experience driven methodology.
  • ITIL Foundation Certification


  • Independently perform complex, difficult assignments in the design, detailed configuration, integration and upgrade of existing and future technologies within technical area of expertise. Plan, design, review and approve robust, stable, scalable and manageable designs. Perform problem diagnosis, initiate problem resolution and provide top tier, ongoing life-cycle support for new technology deployments and upgrades.
  • Manage effective relationships and work in partnership with leadership, team members, vendors, and contractors to deliver robust technical solutions, ensure service level commitments and project time lines are maintained. Provide technical expertise, leadership, direction and prioritization of work to team members ensuring successful project implementation and outstanding service delivery. Mentor, coach and contribute to the development of peers and other team members.
  • Recommend, deploy and document design strategies and solutions for complex software/hardware/network engineering problems, based upon comprehensive and thoughtful analysis of business goals, objectives, requirements and existing technologies. Independently identify key issues, patterns and deviations during the analysis. Recommend robust solutions utilizing pragmatic judgment, creativity, and in-depth technical knowledge and evaluation techniques.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure project scoping activities are aligned with architectural objectives. Utilize performance data and historical metrics to effectively: plan for growth needs; plan upgrades, migrations, optimizations and new implementations; identify and resolve efficiency issues; and improve overall functionality. Manage hand-over design solutions and provide multi-faceted testing support and validation prior to the final release of new and upgraded technologies.
  • Create and maintain documentation of detailed design documents, diagrams, engineering specifications, build changes, models, troubleshooting and support guides, systems metrics, and overall project information (including key deliverables). Responsible for the technical correctness and completeness of engineering designs and artifacts. Ensure that build activities are completed per engineering diagrams that were drafted and approved for the project. Redirect build activities as needed.
  • Provide thought leadership and influence the continual refinement of processes, policies and best practices to ensure the optimal performance and availability of technologies. Promote re-use and develop consistent technical build, implementation and support processes. Responsible for the validation of, and adherence to, defined standards. Ensure ongoing improvements align with existing service/process principles and Systems Development Life Cycle methodologies.
  • Continuously develop specialized knowledge and technical subject matter expertise by remaining apprised of industry trends, the direction of emerging technologies, and their potential value to the business. Effectively present the value proposition of business-appropriate emerging technologies to technology leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering or related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience required.
  • 10 years engineering and integration experience with proven technical expertise in the End User Computing / Workplace Service subject matter domain.
  • Strong analytical and customer service abilities.
  • Ability to communicate and articulate technical information across various organizational levels.
  • Strong thought leadership abilities and a highly innovative problem solver.
  • High reasoning aptitude and ability to quickly understand a complex operating environments.
  • Ability to coach and mentor experienced engineering staff.
  • Deep experience with Powershell scripting to aid in the automation of routine work
