Description
Caterpillar's Integrated Drivetrain Division (IDT) designs and manufactures mechanical and electric drivetrain components and systems used across the full Cat machine product line and supplies drivetrain components to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM's).
As a Drivetrain Senior Design Engineer, you will have design responsibility for the drivetrain system for Caterpillar's OEM agricultural customers. You will lead the technical planning and execution of NPI, CPI, and production maintenance projects. The responsibilities will include designing robust drivetrain solutions to meet our customer's most demanding requirements. You will partner with and provide technical guidance to global engineering teams and suppliers. You will contribute to the planning and delivery of projects, continually learn and stay abreast of innovative technology, mentor and coach team members, and broaden your professional network.
Job Duties

  • Design responsibility for drivetrain products that support Caterpillar's OEM agricultural business
  • Complete Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) and New Product Introduction (NPI) projects
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the OEM customers
  • Prioritize and complete detailed design activities
  • Collaborate with analysis and development teams to validate designs.
  • Communicate results to customers, suppliers, team members, and internal clients.
  • Perform product maintenance including factory support and supplier collaboration.


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in an accredited Engineering curriculum
  • Relevant work experience required - minimum of 5 years in related field
  • Emphasis on initiative and self-starting tasks


Top Candidates will also have

  • Previous role a hardware design engineer
  • Powertrain design, development, or product support experience
  • Understanding of Drivetrain performance and oil system function
  • FMEA based validation process experience
  • APQP, PPAP and design release experience
  • NPI and CPI experience
  • Demonstrated ability to use combination of analysis and test to solve problems
  • Very good communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Proficient in Creo modeling
  • Effectively works in a team environment
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills


Additional Information

  • The location for this position is Mossville, IL
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Any relocation costs incurred would be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
  • Domestic location may be available
  • This position may require 10% travel
