Summary

At MasterControl we are building our next generation data platform that will leverage AI/ML techniques to help redefine how our customers bring lifesaving and lifechanging products to market. To enable this, we need your help building our Data Pipeline, Data Mart, and Data Lake.

The Senior DataOps Engineer plays a key role in our team's transition towards a fully automated and easy to maintain Data Lake and AI/ML pipeline. This role delivers value by owning the automated provisioning of all needed environments, infrastructure, connectivity and needed integrations, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Provision, maintain, and own our Kubernetes clusters.
  • Provision, maintain, and own our Kafka Connect clusters.
  • Provision, maintain, and own our Data Lake (Spark cluster, Airflow, Spark Structured Streaming, Kafka).
  • Provision, maintain, and own our ML Pipeline. H20, GCP, Hugging Face, etc.
  • Automating our integration into our CI/CD pipeline.
  • Mentoring the team in good AWS/Cloud/Networking/IAM/Terraform practices.
  • Foster collaboration in a team and cross-team setting.
  • Contribute to the culture of accountability, productivity, and fun found in our team.
  • Support the integration of new products and services, regulatory requirements, tools, technologies, and markets into existing operations.
  • Ensure available technology is fully leveraged.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Requirements and Skills

  • 4-year degree in CS, IT, IS, or equivalent area of technical study or equivalent experience.
  • Multiple years of professional experience in an Ops position.
  • Experience using AWS, which includes working with services like EC2, EMR, RDS, Athena, IAM, VPC, EKS, Route 53, and S3.
  • Experience using GCP.
  • Hands-on experience building CI/CD workflows and using scripting languages (one or more languages, e.g., Python, Java, PowerShell).
  • Hands-on experience with software deployment and orchestration technologies e.g., CloudFormation, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes in production environments.
  • Experience with Kafka and or other event frameworks.
  • Experience with feature flag and various deployment methodologies: Green/Blue, A/B, red/black.
  • Familiarity and passion for industry standards and best practices around DevOps and SecDevOps.
  • Significant experience with Windows and Linux operating system environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaborative, trust-building, conflict-resolution, and writing skills.
  • Passionate about creatively solving business problems.
  • Effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Meet multiple, challenging deadlines while communicating expectations clearly.
  • Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on the company's success.

  • Must be able to work well with people.
  • Ability to operate a computer and work at a desk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing, in person, over the telephone and in e-mail.
