Position Summary:

We're looking for a zealous and approachable Cybersecurity Engineer to analyze, develop, and maintain security controls and systems. Leveraging your vast knowledge and experience working with information and cyber security systems will be key, as you recommend changes to improve our security posture. You'll work closely with platform and engineering teams across Technology to design secure internal and customer facing solutions. This is a hands-on role that includes creating support documentation, training staff in security principles, recommending and implementing process improvements, and developing automation to ease the operational load of maintaining a security environment. Providing your expert technical leadership to solve complex information security problems is a must!

Competencies & Skills Needed:

  • Expert knowledge of the following:
    • Unix, Linux, and Microsoft based system hardening and protection
    • Network defense and intrusion detection/prevention
    • Network and System based Malware/APT detection and prevention
    • Cloud Infrastructure (Amazon AWS or Microsoft Azure)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cloud platforms
  • Strong desire to help develop and mature the security practice at the company
  • A zeal for learning that never ends
  • Highly approachable and puts others at ease
  • Recognized as a high performing team player
  • Ability to remain composed during stressful situations (like an active ransomware attack)
  • Excellent mentor for more junior members of the team
  • Strong systems or software design skills



What You'll Do and Impact:

  • Design, Develop & Maintain Security Systems
    • Develops security requirements and provides ongoing guidance for network/system protections including firewalls, IDS/IPS, NAC, switches, routers, VPNs, anti-virus, AAA systems.
    • Provides leadership in the vulnerability management of systems.
    • Leads or participates in execution of assigned information security projects.
    • Consultant as the security expert on projects as needed.
  • Design and document security systems, processes and procedures
    • Designs security controls which solve complex issues in compliance with Information Security policies.
    • Designs and leads training for peers and other teams on proper security techniques.
    • Collaborates with other Engineering teams on security design and architecture of existing and new solutions.
  • Participate in security audits
    • Conducts threat assessment on systems and internet services.
    • Conducts/participates in penetration tests.
    • Audit and report for compliance to policies, standards, and controls.
    • Works on investigations as a fact finder and consultant.
  • Identify, report, and help resolve security incidents
    • Detects, responds to and recommends remediation of high to critical level incidents.
    • Update systems, processes, and procedures to prevent future occurrence.
    • Participates in active incident remediation.



Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Electrical, Computer Engineering or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in the Information Security field
  • Ability to break down complex tasks into smaller deliverables



Additional Items of Interest:

  • Ability to adapt both business processes and security controls to meet policy requirements
  • Expert in conducting investigations or acting as a forensic investigator
  • Security certifications: CCNA/CCNP Security, CISSP, Certified Ethical Hacker, AWS Certified Security Specialty
  • If outside of Milwaukee, willingness to travel to Milwaukee occasionally to meet with peer groups and stakeholders (less than 10%)
