Senior Cyber Security Engineer 

The Senior Cyber Security Engineer will develop and assist with maintaining the architecture, deployment, and operations of all security tools within the Definitive Healthcare enterprise. The senior cyber security engineer should be a well-rounded IT security professional with experience protecting a multi-national enterprise. The individual will also be responsible for operations related security incident and response.  


Responsibilities 

  • Lead, manage, and execute projects across the enterprise security infrastructure with accountability for the project outcome through sound project management skills. 
  • Lead SIEM development efforts including rule creation, log parsing, report creation and review. Lead weekly threat hunts based on data within reports.  
  • Monitor events generated from all security tools including network, endpoint, SIEM, cloud, Active Directory and other log sources while assisting junior members with incident related escalations 
  • Establish and maintain network security architecture as it relates to enterprise, colocations and cloud. This may include both NGFW, WAF and cloud native firewalls.  
  • Maintain and monitor leading endpoint EDR functionality across the enterprise.  
  • Establish and maintain vulnerability management best practices for infrastructure and web applications using leading vulnerability management platforms.  
  • Work with 3rd party vendors for internal and public assessments. This may include vulnerability assessments, red/blue/purple team engagements and application scanning.  
  • Establish and maintain e-mail security and best practices implementation. 
  • Assist with governance and compliance as it relates to a public organization. 
  • Document processes and procedures as it relates to security architecture.  
  • Occasional off hours support for maintenance and incident investigations. 
  • Keep up to date with the latest threats to the enterprise.  

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

  • 10+ years progressive technical experience within information technology with an emphasis on security within the enterprise.  
  • NGFW architecture and operations 
  • SIEM operations 
  • EDR operations 
  • DDOS protection 
  • NAC operations 
  • WAF architecture and operations 
  • Public cloud IAAS, PAAS, SAAS security 
  • Dev SecOps understanding 
  • IAM best practices 
  • Ability to mentor junior members of the team 
  • Windows and Linux Administration 
  • Scripting - PowerShell/Python 
  • Offensive mindset 

Competencies 

  • Well-rounded IT professional that understands how different components within an enterprise work with each other and how to address threats to the environment.  
  • Adaptable to change and able to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and writing skills. 
  • Capable of managing multiple projects concurrently while maintaining a high level of attention to detail on each project. 
  • Manage and prioritize work effectively with minimal supervision. 
  • Ability to learn new technologies as needed to provide the best solutions to our customers. 
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, disseminate, and present significant amounts of information with an attention to detail and accuracy.
