As a Compute & Storage Engineer, we'll rely on you to provide infrastructure services focusing on designing, installing, configuring, integrating, and automating various technologies. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing subject matter expertise and guidance for design and installation projects using multiple technologies to keep our infrastructure running smoothly.

Our Engineering groups continue to adapt and evolve into a more converged team, and while the focus of this position is storage-centric, we expect and encourage all our engineers to cross train to build skills and expertise in all aspects of our Infrastructure.

In this role, you will:

• Provides advanced level infrastructure services, including installing, configuring, and integrating enterprise data center technologies. Obtains quotes and justifies business need. Identifies stake holders and participates in project teams. Conducts functional testing and provides recommendations based on the results. Verifies installations meet production acceptance standards
• Design and implement solutions with a focus on observability and automation
• Provide advanced Tier 3 services for multiple moderate to complex issues elevated from tier 2 support groups
• Identify failing components and recommend corrective action
• Provide advanced level design and troubleshooting
• Identify performance issues, interpret trends, and implement improvements
• Create documentation, including knowledge articles, policies and procedures, and diagrams
• Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity testing
• Add, update, and close records in the IT Problem Management and Change Management systems
• Train and mentor staff operations teams. Conduct formal and informal knowledge sharing sessions, one-on-one sessions
• Participate in and support capacity planning activities, including monitoring and tracking capacity metrics. Initiate actions to prevent degradation caused by capacity issues
• Interface with technical leads of Vanguard's engineering team; designing, configuring and maintaining innovative solutions in the infrastructure
• Thoroughly understand and comply with IT policies and procedures, especially those for quality and productivity standards that enable the team to meet established client service levels. Thoroughly understands and complies with Information Security policies and procedures

What it takes:

Undergraduate degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of training and experience.

Minimum of 5 years infrastructure engineering experience.

Experience with DELLEMC Storage products (SAN, NAS, Object)

Familiarity with Compute Technologies (Vmware, VxRail, vSAN, Cisco UCS, HP Proliant)

Familiarity with Unisphere Management tool

Familiarity with Vmware vCenter Appliance

Experience participating in Agile or Lean programs a plus

Ability to support off hour events as required

Ability to be in an on-call rotation

Advanced knowledge on the following storage focused areas:

Knowledge of NAS file storage including CIFS/NFS (Netapp/EMC/AWS)

Knowledge of Object Storage including (EMC ECS, AWS S3)

Knowledge on Fiber Channel Block Storage (EMC/Cisco)

Knowledge on EMC VMAX/VNX/Unity SAN Arrays

Experience in design and implementation of remote replication techniques and disaster recovery solutions using SRDF on VMAX3 and Recoverpoint

Experience in SAN expansion on Brocade and Cisco fabrics

Experience in zonesets and zoning on Fiber Channel networks

Working understanding of code and scripting (PowerShell, Linux Scripting, SYMCLI)

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills.

Strong analysis and problem-solving skills.
