Job Description
Cloud, Microservices, event-driven systems, containerization are some of the patterns & technologies which are driving the future architecture at JPMC. Doing so in a resilient, performant and secure way are the goals of our team. We, the Secure Insight team are on the forefront of maturing these patterns/technologies by applying them to solve complex production use cases. We look first and foremost for people who are passionate around solving business problems through innovation and engineering practices. As a member on our team, you will contribute to engineering complex workloads on cloud platforms, on-prem and public. You will have the opportunity to help execute a strategy to build mindshare and broad adoption of cloud-based solutions across Bank products. The ability to connect modern engineering practices and methodologies with measurable business value is critical to this role.
The ideal candidate has past experience engineering solutions on private and/or public cloud platforms. You will enjoy building upon your existing technical skills while developing new ones.
Responsibilities:
Design and Development (60%)

  • Work with Architect, Machine Learning engineers and Data engineers to identify technical and functional needs of systems
  • Ensure adherence to defined development life cycle, Software design practices, and Architecture strategy and intent
  • Design and Develop distributed computation and parallel processing components to support high volume data pipelines
  • Support DevOps and CI/CD processes
  • Contribute to application frameworks in support of greater resiliency and self-healing capabilities
  • Contribute to monitoring frameworks to accomplish end to end flow monitoring and noiseless alerting with proper telemetry
  • Implement performance tests, identify bottlenecks, opportunities for optimization and continuous improvements
  • Participate in deep design reviews with application and platform teams throughout the life cycle to help develop software for reliability, speed and scale


Team building/Lead/Mentor Junior resource (40%)

  • Act as the coach and mentor to team members on their assigned project tasks
  • Develop a cohesive software engineering team and ensure their continued success
  • Conduct product work reviews with team members


Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience
  • Advanced knowledge of application, data and infrastructure architecture disciplines
  • 5+ Experience in a Big Data technologies (Spark, Impala, Hive, Redshift, Kafka, etc.)
  • 3+ years of Experience in Java Development
  • 2+ years of Experience with Python is preferred


  • Expertise in at least one cloud technology stack designing, coding, testing, and delivering solution that supported high data volume
  • Working experience in Java and at least one other software programming language (Python, Go, C#)
  • Experience with Spring Boot building Microservice and/or Web Apps
  • Advanced knowledge of one or more infrastructure components (e.g. cloud platform - AWS, Google, Azure , containerization - docker, k8s, Spark)
  • Experience in end-to-end systems automation and orchestration
  • Experience with DevOps toolchains
  • Proficiency in Agile
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills
  • Comfortable learning cutting edge technologies and applications to greenfield project


Preferred Experience (one or more MANDATORY)

  • Microservice Data Patterns - CRUD, CQRS and Event Streaming
  • Event-Driven Architecture (EDA)
  • Event Streaming - preferably Apache Kafka
  • Experimentation - Chaos Engineering, Fault Injection, FMEA
  • NoSQL DB - mongo, Cassandra
