As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will help architect and develop the Elixir and Node.js services that make up the Workpath API. You will work closely with Design, Product, and fellow engineers to help create solutions for healthtech companies, patients, and healthcare personnel, from scheduling to dispatch to results.

What You'll Do:

Help to build the backend infrastructure and customer-facing API for cutting-edge healthcare products
Translate stakeholders needs into technical solutions
Take ownership of significant initiatives and drive them from development through completion
Collaborate closely with Design, QA, Product, and fellow developers to define and scope initiatives by balancing risks, constraints, and speed to market
Identify opportunities for improvement to our engineering and business processes as we scale our engineering teams and the overall organization

What You Bring to the Team:

Significant experience with Elixir and Node.js
Experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Redis, and AWS DynamoDB
Familiarity with Docker
Familiarity with agile software development
Familiarity with the requirements and restrictions of HIPAA

Laurey Lou is part of the Asians of Ro ERG, where shared cultural experiences among members has made her feel accepted. The company’s intentional curation of safe spaces goes a long way toward ensuring that employees are seen and heard. “Over the past couple years, this meant processing news together that might hit closer to home,” Lou said. Ramezani said engineers are always designing new tech solutions to support Ro’s patients, and there’s no better event to do so than the company’s biannual weeklong “Rockathon.” It’s when anyone across the company can pitch an idea for a new feature or capability and recruit a cross-functional team to work on it. Ramezani, the director of engineering, said that a lot of planning goes into the event, along with great swag and prizes that get the entire company buzzing.

There’s no shortage of growth opportunities at Ro. Just ask Dr. Kwon. In January of 2020, she joined the company in a content-heavy role that involved working with the product team. She enjoyed partnering to define and solve problems so much that she switched to the product team full-time. Through the company’s formal growth program, “Ro’bility,” which prioritizes internal mobility and peer mentorship, Dr. Kwon now leads clinical product strategy at Ro.

Each role I’ve held at Ro was driven by my own curiosity to chase interesting problems, coupled with support and encouragement from senior leadership.
