The Role
This role involves working with the Payments team at Hopin to work on the core Hopin Billing infrastructure, operating across multiple product suites within Hopin. We are responsible for the Billing infrastructure for our self-serve customers, as well as our enterprise customers. This includes implementing our different pricing strategies, provisioning accounts for our customers, calculating platform usage and invoicing accurately, as well as processing one-off and recurring payments across the platform.
We are looking for a full time Senior Backend Engineer, who is comfortable building software at scale, consuming large amounts of data, as well as leading projects and initiatives with high levels of autonomy.
We are currently working with Ruby, Rails, JavaScript, React, Postgres, Kafka.
Responsibilities
- Architect, analyse, design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug functionality for our Shared Billing platform.
- Foster team expertise, mentoring teammates and contributing to the creation and maintenance of accurate technical documentation.
- Ensure applications can handle high volumes of load.
- Build reliable and well-tested software from the get-go.
- Work with a small agile development team.
- Deliver projects on-time with high quality.
- Design, development and implementation of large, months-long projects.
- Ensuring compliance with development methodology and technical process.
About You
- Experience working with a modern back-end framework such as Rails, Django, or a similar framework (we use Rails).
- Experience with a distributed system platform: Kafka preferred, other pubsub systems accepted.
- Experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases.
- Experience writing automated tests.
- Self-driven and motivated to learn new skills.
- Great communication skills in a remote environment.
