Senior Backend Engineer - Creator Studio
Spotify is looking for Backend Engineers to join our Marketplace Engineering organization. In the next phase of Marketplace’s evolution, we will be building products to help artists and their teams find success on Spotify. The Creator Studio team builds consumer-facing products that provide creators new avenues for promoting their work, reaching new audiences, and deepening connections with fans. We create features like Marquee, Canvas, and Storylines for artists looking to promote new releases, catalogs or events. Our teams work in both the consumer Spotify client as well as our Spotify for Artists platform. As a result, engineers in Creator Studio are exposed to a broad set of Spotify features and services.
You’ll join our team of talented engineers that share a common interest in distributed backend systems, their scalability, and continued development. You will build the backend systems that power our application, scale highly distributed systems, and continuously improve our engineering practices.
What you'll do
- Design, develop, and deploy backend services with a focus on high availability, low latency, and scalability.
- Build and operate infrastructure, toolset, and deployment pipelines.
- Collaborate with engineers, product owners, and designers to tackle exciting and challenging problems.
- Take operational responsibility for the services that are owned by your team.
- Be a leader of the Spotify-wide backend developer community affecting and driving our architecture across the company.
- Work in an environment that supports your individual growth by providing you with challenging tasks to tackle and the freedom to acquire new skills in hack time, reading groups, lectures, and a variety of internal training courses.
Who you are
- You have 5+ years of professional experience working with Java.
- You have an understanding of data structures and algorithms, and understand how to apply them to craft pragmatic solutions.
- You have strong communication and collaboration skills, who goes above and beyond to ensure alignment across disciplines.
- You’re passionate about delivering end-to-end experiences and care about your software architecture across the backend, frontend, and the APIs that glue them together.
- You care about quality and you know what it means to ship high-quality code.
