Your Opportunity

The Telemetry Data Platform organization at New Relic builds the platforms, products, and foundational services for secure, automated, reliable, and dynamic ingestion and processing of telemetry data.

We are looking for a Senior Azure Cloud Engineer to help integrate New Relic observability platform with Azure marketplace, at the scale of ingesting over 2 billion events per minute. You will work on a team that will pave the way for the right tooling and standards across multi-cloud environments and empower our engineering teams to deliver exciting digital experiences for our customers with agility and confidence

You are an engineer with a passion for working hands-on with cloud technologies, in a large scale environment so you can see how that technology is used when scale matters. You enjoy learning new things- and you're seeking the best environment to enable that growth for yourself.

What You'll Do

  • Work with a team of accomplished engineers to design, implement and manage secure, scalable and reliable cloud infrastructure
  • Drive the design/architecture of our Infrastructure and developer platform to support Azure (including the tooling)
  • Implement the solution to be able to ingest data from our Azure customers
  • Develop software in a high-level language (Go, Python, or similar) for the automation of infrastructure management
Establish standards and reference architectures, guiding teams to have their services running in Azure
  • Collaborate with and support other data platform teams in their design and implementation of solutions
  • Develop and promote Site Reliability Engineering principles, standards, and tooling, specifically with secure, high throughput processing in mind, and mentor other engineers in reliability-related skills

Your Qualifications

Must-have:
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in implementing and/or maintaining highly complex Azure cloud environments.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of software development experience in cloud environments.
  • Strong understanding of cloud computing and hands-on experience of migrating/operating workloads in Azure
  • Deep understanding of IAM and Azure AD, integrating with a third-party authentication provider
  • Experience with Azure Storage and essential Azure Networking technologies, Azure Storage Queues, Azure EventHub, Kafka
  • Kubernetes and AKS cluster deployment and support
  • Experience with infrastructure as code configuration management such as Terraform, Pulumi, or similar
  • Experience working with distributed systems at a high scale
  • Experience working on technically and organizationally complex projects with the ability to identify risks and weigh tradeoffs
  • High level of emotional intelligence with collaboration, communication and listening skills that encourage different perspectives and creative solutions
  • Experience mentoring engineers and up leveling the people you work with
Nice-to-have:
  • Azure Database Experience - MySQL, Postgres, Redis
  • Experience operating services in Google Cloud
  • Service Mesh technologies like Istio, Envoy
  • Experience with high throughput Java services
Please note that visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
