The Red Hat Consulting team is looking for a Senior Automation Consultant to join us. In this role, you will promote the adoption of Red Hat's solutions at our key enterprise accounts, government agencies, and service provider partners. You'll work both in-person and remotely to win the trust and confidence of customer engineering, development, and operations teams by matching their requirements and use cases with functional capabilities of our solutions. As a Senior Automation Consultant, you'll need to have detailed working knowledge and practical experience with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform and a high level of familiarity with Chef, Puppet, Salt, and similar technologies on the market. You'll also need to use your solid understanding of DevOps methodologies and tools to apply them within target organizations. This is a remote position with weekly travel to customer sites, following Red Hat's COVID-19 guides, that can be located anywhere in North America within close proximity to an airport. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
What you will do

• Serve as the Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform on-site subject matter expert
• Deliver and support the deployment of Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform for enterprises
• Design, create, and deliver content that will enable us to design, service, and support our automation solutions at scale
• Travel frequently to work alongside leading financial services, retail, telecommunication, and institutional customers, in line with Red Hat COVID-19 guidelines

What you will bring

• Background in architecting and designing complex customer solutions in a rapidly evolving technology domain
• 8+ years of experience working as a solutions architect, enterprise architect, or consulting delivery architect
• 4+ years of experience with cloud environments and their supporting infrastructures
• Solid background in a consultative customer engagement role with a major consulting services organization or in the services division of a major software company
• Proven record of working in a strategic advisory capacity to senior IT and business executives
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English; experience presenting to C-level executives at large companies
• Solutions sales mentality in an environment with multiple offerings and solutions
• Proven ability to work seamlessly with distributed cross-functional teams to achieve success on behalf of customers
• Good balance of strategic and tactical skills; high level of mental agility and capacity for original thought
• Ability to study on your own and quickly learn and put new knowledge into practice
• Passion for open source, software, tooling, and automation
• Intermediate-level scripting skills in Bash or Python
• Experience implementing a continuous integration (CI) or continuous development (CD) pipeline
• Broad and deep technical experience with one or more virtualization and cloud technologies like Red Hat OpenStack Platform, Red Hat Virtualization, VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Microsoft Azure
• Knowledge of container management and orchestration tools
• Comfortable working with highly distributed teams, including interaction with open source communities by email and internet relay chat (IRC)
• Familiarity with security fundamentals at the infrastructure and operating system level, including the cloud environment and hypervisors
• Experience with one or more industry areas is a plus
• Experience working in a quality assurance role or with ticketing systems or bug tracking tools is a plus
