About the job
The Red Hat Public Sector Consulting team is looking for a Senior Architect to join us. In this role, you will guide the adoption of Red Hat's solutions in our key enterprise accounts, government agencies within the Intelligence Community (IC), as well as, service provider partners. Through a series of in-person delivery and executive briefings, you'll win the trust and confidence of customer's engineering, development, and operations teams by aligning their requirements and use cases with the functional capabilities of our solutions. As a Senior Architect, you'll need to have a solid understanding of cloud-native application development and DevOps methodologies, tools, and how they can be applied within an organization. You'll also play a critical role in bringing together cross-functional teams from Red Hat's product business, product engineering, support, professional services, and sales teams to meet the needs of our most demanding customers. You'll serve as a customer advocate with these teams to architect the right solutions and to ensure that those solutions are implemented and supported in an innovative and reliable way. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
What you will do

  • Deliver successful discovery, analysis, and design workshops for small to medium teams of technical and non-technical backgrounds that shape the customer use cases and architecture design decisions
  • Scope delivery projects and guide customers through successful pilot and production deployments
  • Oversee the design, creation, and delivery of content that enables the broader Red Hat teams to sell (presales), service (consulting), and support (Customer Experience and Engagement - CEE) our cloud solutions at scale
  • Work closely with product business, product engineering, consulting, support, and sales teams to ensure excellent customer experience with Red Hat's offerings
  • Contribute to the development of repeatable methodologies and tools designed to scale Red Hat's services capabilities, promote repeatable customer engagements, and lower delivery risk
  • Demonstrate expertise in cloud and DevOps communities by producing outstanding whitepapers and webinars, code contributions to relevant projects, and speeches at industry-leading conferences
  • Work with customers on the writing of business justifications if needed


What you will bring

  • Background in architecting and designing complex customer solutions in a rapidly evolving technology field
  • 8+ years of experience in a solutions architect, enterprise architect, or architect consulting delivery role
  • 4+ years of experience focused on cloud environments and their supporting infrastructures
  • Solid background in consultative customer engagement with either a major consulting services organization or within the services division of a major software company
  • Proven record of working in a strategic advisory capacity to senior IT and business executives
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills, including extensive experience presenting to C-level executives at large firms
  • Solutions sales mentality in an environment with multiple offerings and solutions
  • Proven ability to work seamlessly with distributed cross-functional teams to achieve success on behalf of customers
  • Good balance of strategic and tactical skills with a high level of mental agility and capacity for original thought
  • Ability to study and quickly learn and put new knowledge into practice
  • Passion for open source, software, tooling, and automation
  • Intermediate-level scripting in bash or Python
  • Willingness to travel up to 35% in line with Red Hat's COVID-19 guidelines


The following are considered a plus:

  • Broad and deep technical experience with one or more virtualization and cloud technologies (e.g., Red Hat OpenShift)
  • Platform, Red Hat Virtualization, VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, etc.)
  • Deep understanding of working with DISA, NIST, and STIG security guidelines and how to adhere to them
  • Experience across one or more vertical industry areas
  • Comfortable working with highly distributed teams, including interaction with open source communities via email and IRC
  • Experience working in a quality assurance (QA) role or working with ticketing systems or bug tracking tools
  • Familiarity with security fundamentals at the infrastructure (including cloud and hypervisor) and operating system levels
