An individual in the Architecture job family is a strategic resource for UnitedHealth Group. This individual could be involved across many aspects of architecture, design, build, engineering and implementation of technical solutions and capabilities providing technical leadership.
Responsible for communicating overall architecture vision, technical strategies, and trade-offs across various levels in the organization to gain buy-in. Will provide recommendations and technical guidance to improve performance, reliability, and reusability within the constraints of budget, resource and business dependencies. In base and mid-level roles, engages across teams in a capacity that ranges from assisting on in-flight initiatives, up to technical briefings and demonstrations of new technologies across the organization. In senior level roles, leads business solutions, capabilities, and is a strong influencer that engages with client executives and stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide architectural solutions to various business and technical problems and lead architecture/design discussions
• Design and implement shared reusable architectural components and frameworks using Springboot
• Redesign existing components to a micro-services architecture and migrate to the cloud
• Evaluate, recommend and implement POCs of new tools and technologies
• Provide Subject Matter Expertise in Cloud, Micro-services, and architecture best practices and standards
• Maintain architectural documentation working within standards defined
• Ensure scrums teams compliance with architectural standards and best practices
• Mentor & provide Subject Matter Expertise and architectural guidance to the development teams as needed
• Stay abreast of current and emerging technologies / products / trends related to the cloud and architectural solutions
• Work with Delivery Managers and scrum masters to help determine work estimates and scope

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar field or equivalent work experience
• 5+ years of experience in Application Architecture role
• 5+ years of experience and solid expertise in Cloud and Micro-services architecture and design patterns
• 5+ years of experience and Solid expertise in Springboot, Spring Cloud
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in delivering multi-tier web based applications
• 3+ Experience working as part of an agile delivery team
• Experience with CICD, automation, and configuration management tools such as Jenkins, Ansible, and Chef
• Solid understanding of industry patterns for application architecture and integration
• Solid understanding of network, and cloud infrastructure
• Ability to travel once per quarter to Horsham, PA for planning sessions

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree
• Cloud related certification
• Experience with Docker, and at least one of the cloud platforms (OpenShift, AWS, Azure, etc.)

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The Salary range for Colorado Connecticut and Nevada residents is $94,500 to $171,700.
