Serve as a cloud-native application-focused expert who creates possibilities, solves problems, and establishes strategic relationships with customers. The Red Hat Commercial Sales team is looking for a Senior Application Platform Solutions Architect to join us. In this role, you'll need to have passion for modern application development balanced with a technical background in Java and an understanding of challenges faced by enterprise application developers. You'll help customers overcome these challenges by using Red Hat's technologies, including Red Hat OpenShift, Red Hat Runtimes, Red Hat Integration, and Red Hat Process Automation to adopt modern development practices like DevOps, microservices, and containers. As a Senior Application Platform Solutions Architect, you'll also need to have excellent communication and people skills because you'll be a key part of the first impression our customers have with Red Hat. This position should ideally be located in the Chicago, IL area. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
What you will do

• Discover and analyze the business and technical problems of our customers and connect these challenges to the appropriate Red Hat solutions
• Create enterprise solutions that increase business value using Red Hat OpenShift and the Red Hat Application Services portfolio
• Develop and conduct live demonstrations and educate prospective customers on the capabilities of Red Hat's solutions
• Guide and assist with proofs of concepts, workshops, and seminars
• Collaborate with the Product Engineering, Professional Services, Support, and other Sales teams to ensure excellent customer experience with our offerings and solutions
• Demonstrate expertise by speaking to user groups and at select conferences; share knowledge with your team members in order to allow them to learn from your work

What you will bring

• 5+ years of experience working as an engineer, consultant, architect, or in an equivalent role with development skills; experience in sales is a plus
• Practical experience with Java development technologies like Spring Boot, WildFly Swarm, or JEE (Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform, WildFly, Oracle WebLogic, or IBM WebSphere)
• Previous Container-as-a-Service (CaaS) or Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) experience using Red Hat OpenShift, Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF), Docker Enterprise Edition, Mesosphere, or similar technologies
• Familiarity with Java development frameworks like Spring, Netflix OSS, Eclipse Vert.x, or Play and other technologies like Node.js, Ruby, PHP, Go, or .NET development
• Experience with application build automation tools like Apache Maven, Jenkins, and Git
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a record of developing relationships at technical, management, and executive levels
• Willingness to travel up to 50%, following Red Hat's COVID-19 guidelines
• Background in applying middleware (application services) to solving business problems, including using integration-based approaches, messaging approaches, and business rules and business process management (BPM) approaches
• Demonstrated continuing learning of newer approaches in the area of hybrid cloud, including native, serverless, and event-driven architecture and Kubernetes approaches like Red Hat OpenShift is a plus
• Prior experience with container and container orchestration technologies like Linux containers (Docker), Kubernetes, and the Open Container Initiative (OCI) project is a plus
