About the role:

We are looking for Android engineers to help us build a delightful experience in every stage of the hosting journey. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with Product Managers, Designers and Backend Engineers to design and deliver high-quality products on Android, making a significant impact on our host and guest community around the world. Some of your day-to-day responsibilities include building efficient and reusable mobile components and architecting reliable, performant, and scalable mobile solutions. 

Current Team Opportunities:

Listings Clients - We exist because our hosts need a set of tools that enable them to onboard, manage and merchandise their listings in an efficient manner. We are responsible for delighting our users with intuitive settings and beautiful interfaces on web and mobile that can help them navigate easily through the many configurations their homes and experiences may have. This way, guests have complete and accurate information when choosing a place to stay or an experience to enjoy.

How you will be contributing to our mission:

• Building solutions to support hosts when creating and managing stays and experiences on the Airbnb mobile app.
• Using cutting edge technologies for Android applications including Kotlin, Objective-C and GraphQL, among others.
• Maintaining quality standards to ensure high performance and availability of our client side platforms.
• Working with cross functional teams that enable the hosting platform to millions of users around the world.
• Collaborating with Product, Design, Data Science and other partners to guarantee timely delivery and proper measurement of new features.

Users & Quality - Our team is responsible for a range of product surface areas across Guest, Hosting, and Experiences, including signup, login, profile, account settings, reviews and standards, and tools for search and tagging operations. We continually improve foundational web and mobile core infrastructure supporting our use cases and throughout the company. Our team ensures a delightful experience at multiple stages of guest and host journey. 

How you will be contributing to our mission:

• Building solutions to support operations when tagging stays to create structured data for hosts and guests
• Upgrading our host and guest quality systems to enable a platform allowing trust and magical experiences
• Introduce new ways to identify high quality during our booking process, and updating our review flows to ensure these standards are being met
• Create frictionless and secure user experiences in our signup and login flows

Performance & Superhost - Our team is responsible for supporting hosts to reach their full potential.  We provide insights and dashboards on host performance and market data that allow hosts to gain visibility into their hosting progress, as well as provide contextual tips on how hosts can improve.  We also help all hosts track their path to achieving Superhost status and benefits.

How you will be contributing to our mission:

• Developing and adding capabilities to a performance dashboard that allows hosts to easily discover how they are tracking progress towards goals.
• Partner closely with multiple product stakeholders and cross-functional partners, such as research, design, and data science, to build features that improve host performance.
• Identifying opportunities, proposing, and delivering solutions that increase the technical quality of our applications.

What we are looking for:

• 3+ years industry experience
• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree, preferably in CS, or equivalent experience
• Experience shipping one or more Kotlin or Java Android apps, ideally currently available in the Play Store
• Personal projects that show an aptitude for technical excellence and product sense
• Ability to work in areas outside of your usual comfort zone and show motivation for personal growth
• Solid engineering and coding skills. Understanding of basic data structures and asynchronous programming
• Interest in innovations within the mobile industry
