Your Role and Responsibilities
The Weather Company, an IBM Business, is seeking a Security Operations engineer to help maintain a strong security posture for our back-end data platform. You will work within a data platform team that delivers upwards of 60 billion API responses per day across industry verticals that range from B2C applications, aviation, agriculture, advertising, media, and more. You will help patch and remediate security vulnerabilities across a hybrid cloud environment, develop within unified build pipelines, integrate automation wherever possible, and shift security left. As such, the ideal candidate will have experience in both software development and operations methodologies. This environment will expose you to new technologies, tools, and programming languages to help expand your expertise and make you a world-class SecOps engineer.

Responsibilities and Deliverables• Implement patch management strategies based on business guidelines.• Design and build automated patch management tooling.• Expand our security posture with your strong understanding of SecOps toolsets, cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines and observability technologies like Prometheus, Grafana, LogDNA or equivalent.• Shift Security left by implementing tooling in our CI/CD pipeline.• Work with application teams, devops teams, and the security focal to ensure multiple cloud environments and accounts remain compliant with best practices as well as business specific standards.• Monitor Security tooling, implement intelligent alerting for security risks.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise• 3-5+ years experience as a Individual contributor in a software engineering or devops role.• Experience with CI/CD tools: Jenkins, Travis CI or similar. • Good written/verbal communication skills. • Ability to self manage and take initiative.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise• 2+ years in a security focused role. • Comfortable operating at the command line. • Strong understanding of Linux operating system. • Experience advising and/or working with developers on secure code best practices.
