Job Description Summary:
M&A Security Integration Lead

This individual will be responsible for leading a newly acquired company (called a Business Unit or BU) through the process of integrating with PayPal's Enterprise Cyber Security (ECS) standards, tooling, processes, and procedures.
This includes performing comprehensive security assessments of counterparty including infrastructure, applications, products and overall organization maturity and capability leading to a robust and thoughtful integration plan, including budget, execution timeline, and resource allocation.

Primary Job Responsibilities

Expectations for PayPal's continued successful growth are dependent on the ability of the M&A Security Integration Lead to:

  • Employ both interpersonal communication skills as well as hands on engineering skills to enable newly acquired businesses to mesh into PayPal's security program
  • Work with internal and outsourced teams to perform comprehensive security assessments of the BU's infrastructure, applications, products and the overall security maturity
  • Examination of security documentation, review of processes, and interviews with key staff as part of the assessment
  • Identify gaps, assess risks, and develop and manage remediation action plans through the whole M&A and Integration process that include determinations of highest risk
  • Create detailed and well considered plans and budgets which will reduce churn, unplanned work, and unnecessary spend
  • Help to mature and evolve the overall Mergers & Acquisitions processes, methodology, and approach to align acquisitions with PayPal standards
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity, change and conflicting priorities
  • Up to 30% travel, depending on acquisition pace and location

  • Strong interpersonal skills: This leader must be highly articulate both verbally and in written form, be able to interact at both strategic and tactical levels, and able to effectively interact with, and influence senior leaders
  • Written Communication Skills: Ability to produce high quality technical reports for a wide variety of audiences including executive staff
  • Self-motivated and directed with strong bias to action: The executive must have a demonstrated record of driving operations and/or projects to successful outcomes
  • Innovation leadership: This leader should have a demonstrated ability to lead with innovative ideas rather than follow the competition or take traditional approaches

Desired Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a senior information security position with leadership responsibility with experience across a range of enterprise-wide information security functions, technology architectures, capabilities, and processes
  • Experience of M&A related technology and security due diligence
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Identity and Access Management
    • Cryptography and Key Management
    • Vulnerability/SCAP Management
    • Application development CI/CD platforms and integrating OSS, SAST/DAST
    • Cloud Native services (Examples: AWS Kinesis Firehose/Lambda and GCP Pub/Sub and Dataflow).
    • Infrastructure as code and specifically deploying tools/services within CSP's leveraging CloudFormation or Terraform (preferably).
    • Docker and Kubernetes, deploying sidecars/daemonsets, and basic understanding of the orchestration platforms
  • Experience in financial services or security technology industries, preferably in dynamic and fast changing environments

  • Lateral thinking and perseverance in achieving goals
  • Ability to make high quality decisions with limited information
