About the Role and Your Impact

As a Security Engineer on the Information Security team, your work will help protect the data of Community leaders, their audiences and Community’s employees. You will be working with a distributed, remote-first team that spans North America, Europe, and beyond. Your day-to-day will focus on improving the security of Community’s products, systems and platform. You’ll work with our Engineering, Product and other teams closely and also help build our security automation and integrations. Last, but not least - we are growth-oriented, both as a company and as individuals: we take learning seriously and invest in growing our skills, our team’s capabilities, and our overall security culture. Come join us and help us build a world class information security program!

What You’ll Do

  • Support engineers in building secure products and systems
  • Improve security detection and automation
  • Support security incident response
  • Improve processes and practices for security throughout Community
  • Play a key part in developing the processes and practices of a growing security team
  • Nurture and grow our modern information security culture: our team exists to help evaluate, mitigate and accept risk, not to gate-keep, chastise less security-aware users or employees, or always say “no”.

What You’ll Bring

  • 3+ years of experience working in information security
  • Ability to read and write code in one of the following languages or similar: Elixir, Ruby, Python, Go, Rust, JavaScript
  • Experience with AWS, Docker and working with third party APIs
  • Experience working with application, system and security logs - both collection and analysis
  • An understanding of common technical security risks, including common security vulnerability classes, and potential mitigations
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills and the ability to thrive in a quickly growing company with a remote-first culture
  • Curiosity about the world, information security and a desire to learn and grow

Community is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We commit ourselves to inclusivity across race, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, body size, disability, age, and class - in everything we do.
