Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with PKI (i.e., WebPKI).
  • Experience with Linux system administration.
  • Experience with software development in Golang/Python.



Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with compliance (e.g., interpretation and implementation of standards and audit evidence collection).
  • Experience in protecting systems, security research, or security testing of platforms.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

There's no such thing as a "safe system " - only safer systems. Our Security team works to create and maintain the safest operating environment for Google's users and developers. As a Security Engineer, you help protect network boundaries, keep computer systems and network devices hardened against attacks and provide security services to protect highly sensitive data like passwords and customer information. Security Engineers work directly with network equipment and actively monitor our systems for attacks and intrusions. You also work with software engineers to proactively identify and fix security flaws and vulnerabilities.

You use your industry experience to own and drive the resolution of complex security incidents, policy questions and technical security issues.

Google Trust Services is Google's publicly trusted Certificate Authority (CA) and provides transport layer security (TLS) certificates for all Google products and Google Cloud customers helping to authenticate and encrypt internet traffic.

As a Security Engineer, you will design, own, and operate systems housed in specially built safe rooms within Google data centers. You will operate the physical security, safes, hardware, network, OS (Linux), configuration management, deployment, monitoring of the CA system, both within these safe rooms and on Google production infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Work on the team of engineers responsible for the security and operation of Google's Certificate Authorities.
  • Engineer and operate a full stack solution (e.g., controls for physical and network security, operating system deployment, configuration management, system auditing, etc.).
  • Ensure systems are secure and comply with all security and audit requirements.
