About the job
Red Hat's North America Public Sector (NAPS) Consulting team is looking a leader with a proven record of delivering secure emerging technology projects and solutions to join us as a Secure Infrastructure Architect. In this role, you will be focused on guiding security practices and solutions for cloud-based infrastructure across our government customers. We will trust you to work closely with business and technical stakeholders to select and help implement security controls as outlined within National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) SP 800 series and agency guidelines. Additionally, you will advise on the design and development of secure system architecture as well as industry best practices and information system technologies available to meet security requirements. You will work as part of a Red Hat team of subject-matter experts who co-create innovative software solutions using emerging technology and modern software design methods. As a Secure Infrastructure Architect, you will team up with customers and partners to accelerate their application development project or infrastructure deployment and to teach them new ways of working together to deliver business value and new capabilities. As you do so, you will create enthusiasm for building great software using principles of open source culture. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
What you will do

  • Integrate with a high-performing team of subject matter experts in the Secure Infrastructure team
  • Develop quality relationships and trusted adviser status with key business stakeholders to promote customer adoption both internally and with strategic customers
  • Develop an understanding of customer business issues and how to strategize an implementation plan for delivering secure cloud infrastructures to Red Hat's customers in support of workloads
  • Serve as a point of contact between the Emerging Technology, Business, Support, and Engineering teams
  • Develop and supplement multi-year roadmaps focused on digital transformation's intersection with security
  • Contribute to and be able to present on Red Hat's secure infrastructure strategy and offerings
  • Showcase superb whiteboarding and communication skills
  • Condense complex design requirements in the statement-of-work (SoW) and approach documents
  • Connect technical requirements to business requirements in scoping, discovery session, etc.
  • Support technical escalation for customers, programs, and sub-regions
  • Support and develop account strategies in partnership with the Red Hat Sales Specialist team that sells and delivers consistent secure infrastructure capabilities to our customers
  • Collaborate with Red Hat Services business functions to develop future capabilities to deliver solutions on Red Hat's technologies
  • Innovate on our current thinking and develop new approaches to continue to innovate on how Red Hat delivers software and systems to customers
  • Collaborate and coordinate with customer, sales, and delivery associates to ensure best customer experience


What you will bring

  • 10+ years of relevant consulting or industry experience; proven ability to build relationships with senior business and technology leaders
  • Comfortable presenting and delivering to senior leaders, which will include both internal and external stakeholders
  • 7+ years of experience implementing and maintaining complex and innovative infrastructures including cloud Infrastructures, containerization, and security scanning tools, i.e. StackRox, Twistlock, and Nessus
  • Working knowledge of NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Authorities to Operate (ATOs)
  • Knowledge of federal security regulations, standards, and processes including Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002 (FISMA), Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS), NIST, and Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP)
  • Experience interpreting IT vulnerability scanning results, e.g., Nessus
  • Ability and experience in areas including quantifying the business value of cloud, evaluating the organizational impact of cloud adoption, defining cloud architectural principles, and articulating key security considerations for public cloud migrations
  • Understanding of emerging technologies like service mesh or Istio and end user needs
  • Ability to understand the technical impact of projects from supportability, scalability, and repeatability aspects, as well as the business impact on both Red Hat and customers in delivering and scoping projects
  • Proven record of customer excellence by maintaining a high level of integrity to ensure both near and long-term customer success
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%, following Red Hat's COVID-19 guidelines
  • Ability to work with a multi-location team


The following are considered a plus:

  • Active Top Secret clearance
  • Experience working with and deep knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • Experience working with or knowledge of Red Hat OpenShift
  • 7+ years of experience serving in an information system security role
  • Certification like Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), and Certified Analytics Professional (CAP)
