About the Role and Your Impact

As a Sales Engineer at Community, you must be a hungry self starter with a proven track record in sales and knowledge of technology. You must be able to explain complex information and concepts in simple to understand and practical business context -- with the goal of helping close deals with our largest customers. You will understand prospects and current customers’ complex needs, strategize on how to navigate winning sales cycles, partner with Sales and Development teams, and provide compelling value-based demonstrations and creative approaches. You must possess strong presentation skills and be able to communicate professionally verbally as well as in written communication.

Your work will go into the hands of some of the most influential companies and enterprise brands in the world to reach tens of millions of Members in their communities. Not only will you have an opportunity to drive change at a rapidly growing organization, you will also partner with high-caliber Sales, Product, Marketing, Account Management, and Engineering teams and closely collaborate with leadership.

What You’ll Do

  • Educate customers on the product and help close business by marrying technical expertise, product knowledge, and industry knowledge with sales acumen
    • Offer creative solutions to complex workflows against specific business requirements
    • Maintain a general understanding of the competitive landscape and be able to articulate and demonstrate why Community's product is the best-in-class solution for engaging customers via text message
    • Immerse yourself in the ever-evolving industry, maintaining a deep understanding of competitive and complementary technologies and vendors and how to position Community in relation to them
    • Speak eloquently about upcoming Product updates & releases and implications to the business, brand or public figure
    • Reposition customer objections and explain workarounds for workflows not inherent within Community
    • Collaborate with upmarket, larger prospects and customers to communicate and demonstrate the value of Community throughout the sales cycle, from demo to launch and beyond
  • Partner and collaborate extremely closely with various internal teams (Sales, Product Management, Engineering, Account Management, and Marketing), in order to:
    • Consistently attend Product meetings/updates (liaising with the Engineering team when needed) in order to deeply understand our Product Roadmap
    • Continuously provide feedback and improve Community’s products and services
    • Identify and qualify business opportunities, recognizing key customer technical objections, and develop the strategy to resolve roadblocks
    • Represent the product to customers and at field events such as conferences, seminars, etc.
  • Manage the technical relationship with Community’s customers, including overseeing product and solution briefings, proof-of-concept work, and the coordination of additional technical resources
  • Respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs

What You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a technical sales or sales engineer role
  • Experience at a B2B SaaS company; Martech or Marketing Platform experience a plus
  • Accustomed to solving customer’s most complex problems and closing large deals
  • Comfort with and keen ability to explain and resolve common technical aspects of SaaS software, including security, APIs, integrations, data exports, SLAs, etc
  • Demonstrated track record of success in the scaling stage of high-growth environments
  • Ability to garner respect and collaborate with a senior team of engineers, product managers and designers
  • High EQ with excellent written and oral communication skills
  • BS in Engineering, Economics, Mathematics or relevant technical field a plus
