At Uber, we ignite opportunity by setting the world in motion. We take on big problems to help drivers, riders, delivery partners, and eaters get moving in more than 10,000 cities around the world.
About the Team
The Enterprise Applications organization is a passionate team of system engineers working diligently to unleash the potential of other Uber employees by providing them with the best selection of software. We manage nearly 100 applications used across the entire Uber, including Slack, Zoom, Google Workspace, Jira, Adobe, Lucidchart, Figma, and Smartsheet. You'll be joining a growing team of system engineers, architects, and product managers of all levels of experience.
About the Role
The Enterprise Applications team is looking for a Saas Systems Engineer to join our team. You will impact how our team discovers, manages, measures, and monitors software used at Uber by deploying a centralized solution in ServiceNow. You will play a vital role in shaping the employee application experience and enabling them to quickly find and obtain the tools they need to effectively perform their work.
What You Will Do

  • Have ownership mentality by demonstrating end-to-end responsibility for building a comprehensive inventory of applications in use at Uber
  • Define the guidelines and strategies for how internal application owners will interact with and contribute to the application inventory
  • Help design application catalog to allow employees to discover available applications
  • Help design and deploy a solution to give users self-service access to pre-vetted and pre-approved applications, and streamline access requests for other apps
  • Dig into a variety of application-related data sets and identify trends, gaps, and opportunities
  • Assess the value of each application by evaluating its significance and usage based on collected metrics across various dimensions, and help drive decisions on what applications Uber should invest in, maintain as-is, replace, or retire
  • Present your awesome data results and recommendations to senior leaders
  • Inspire and mentor your more junior colleagues, sharing processes, skills, and experience with others to help up-skill the entire team

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in configuration, testing, and deployment of ServiceNow functionality
  • Solid understanding of application portfolio management or software asset management framework
  • Both a strategic vision, yet crafty execution-style. You will need to think big but be able to get into the weeds and quickly produce
  • A track record of delivering outcomes where you've planned and driven product direction autonomously. We're seeking a self-starter, who asks for help when needed
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, especially in influencing and partnering across many organizational levels
  • A growth mindset. Our team moves fast and there is always something to learn

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience launching Application Portfolio Management and Software Asset Management (SAM) systems - especially on the ServiceNow platform
  • Experience working on end-to-end journeys and customer experiences
  • Experience managing or supporting SaaS applications
  • In-depth knowledge of Jira and Confluence
