The Cloud Governance team is responsible for Ally's cloud platform and is focused on engineering and maturing the central core infrastructure/policy of Ally's cloud platform with a keen focus on cloud security and posture management.

The Cloud Engineer delivers technology solutions specifically focused on Cloud Engineering, partners with infrastructure teams to provide the business with the best possible solutions, and keeps up to date on technology trends.

The candidate should have hands on experience with technical implementations and solutions as well as the capability to market those solutions internally.

The Work Itself

  • Deliver solutions of public cloud technology problems around core cloud components
  • Partner with internal security teams to improve Cloud Security
  • Mature protections & guardrails related to public cloud account configuration and networking
  • Documents and publish new standards and design patterns
  • Release new core features to the cloud platform
  • Reviews cost and compliance metrics
  • Provides technical expertise and advice to developers and other departments
  • Ensures a risk management mindset when considering Cloud solutions
  • Other duties as assigned



The Skills You Bring

  • Preferable Certifications: AWS Certifications or comparable experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or related science or relevant experience
  • Subject matter expert of Amazon Web Services' public cloud and service offering
  • Vast knowledge in AWS IAM, and defining least privileged policy
  • Experience with core central networking and organizational AWS services/components (AWS Organization, VPC, Transit Gateway, Firewall Manager)
  • Automation skills using software defined infrastructure such as Terraform
  • Proficient in Python and respective cloud libraries/SDK's (boto3) or another language
  • Knowledge around DevOps practices and Source Control management tools such as GitLab, BitBucket, and Jenkins
  • Engineering and architecting enterprise grade solutions that are modular and scalable
  • A demonstrated ability to triage, debug, fix, and optimize infrastructure running in AWS
  • 1+ years working experience with a broad range of technical solution around technology architectures, solution design, and cloud implementations. Must be proficient with engineering solutions focused on AWS Cloud offerings

Ally's compensation program offers market-competitive base pay and pay-for-performance incentives (bonuses) based on achieving personal and company goals.   • Starting Pay: The starting pay for this role is $78,000 per year. In addition, this role is eligible for an annual bonus program with a target of 5% of annual base pay, based on individual and corporate performance. This is the starting pay for this role. Actual offers to be negotiated based on applicant's qualifications and experience.
