Job Overview

The Reliability Engineer is a key Role at Komatsu working with various Internal Komatsu Departments along with External Customers in relation to the reliability of our Mining Equipment Product Offerings

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Performs reliability analyses (Weibull, Reliability Growth, Weibayes) on Komatsu machine and component field failure data.
  • Maintains component reliability database within PDM system.
  • Assists in reliability program planning necessary to achieve RAMS (Reliability/Availability/Maintainability/Safety) requirements for major new product development initiatives.
  • Performs design for reliability (DFR) activities such as: FMEA's, Reliability Block Diagram analysis, and FTA's, etc., on major product development initiatives.
  • Assists in verification and validation (V&V) planning for field testing of Komatsu products.
  • Assists in the design and installation of DAQ systems and sensors required for machine V&V field testing.
  • Performs Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on component / machine failures as part of issue resolution projects.
  • Represents Reliability and Test Engineering as an active team member of Komatsu NPD projects.



Qualifications/Requirements

  • BS in Engineering (preferably Mechanical or Electrical engineering).
  • 3+ years experience in reliability or maintenance engineering involving heavy, off road, equipment. Mining equipment experience is a plus.
  • Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) is preferred.
  • Multiple language skills are a plus.
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with ReliaSoft Software is a major plus.



Has performed (or familiar with) the following:

  • Weibull Analysis
  • Weibayes Analysis
  • Reliability Block Diagram (RBD) analysis.
  • Reliability Growth Analysis (RGA) (such as Crow-AAMSA).
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA) using various techniques (i.e., 5 Y, FTA, Fish Bone, etc.).
  • Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) Simulation and Analysis.
  • DAQ systems (field installation and commissioning a plus).


Other Requirements:

  • This Role may involve domestic and international travel (up to 25%).
  • U.S. Citizenship is required and having a valid passport or the ability to obtain one.
