As a Fab 4 Manufacturing Development Engineering (MDE) Dry Etch Process Engineer in the Technology Development (TD) Group at Micron Technology, Inc., you will work to design, support and optimize plasma dry etch processes for Micron's leading-edge DRAM and NAND products.
You will take ideas from conception through process development and then implementation in our high-volume manufacturing (HVM) facilities. This role is critical to the success of Micron's new memory products and may require occasional travel to Micron's HVM sites.
Primary areas of responsibility include plasma dry etch process design, characterization, and optimization, troubleshooting process and equipment issues, and process transfer to HVM.
MDE Dry Etch Process Development Engineers interact with groups such as Process Development Engineering (PDE), Process Integration (PI), Yield Enhancement (YE), Operations Development Engineering (ODE), Manufacturing (HVM) and Equipment Vendors to develop robust dry etch processes that meet the precise physical and electrical requirements for Micron's memory products.
This position requires that you have an aptitude for working in a fast-paced, high-tech research and development (R&D) environment, good organization and time management skills and the ability to work independently or in a team environment.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing root cause investigation into defect and other yield or quality deviations
  • Supporting efficient operation of the R&D pilot line
  • Updating Area and Fab stakeholders on issues impacting the pilot line
  • Performing tool and process Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Fault Detection Control (FDC) setup, line monitoring and reaction
  • Partnering with stakeholders for workstation load balancing and tool redundancy qualifications
  • Coordinating with Process Integration, Operations and other Process Area teams
  • Driving cost reduction and process RPT improvements
  • Managing wafers though the dry etch area in support of special work requests (SWRs)
  • Supporting cross-functional failure analysis and yield improvement
  • Developing expertise in dry etch process and hardware technology
  • Serving as a resource for peers in dry etch process development and optimization

Successful candidates will have:
  • Proven experimental design, troubleshooting and data analysis skills
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office
  • Understanding of the principles of dry etch processing and hardware
  • Strong understanding of process control, feedback loops and SPC
  • An understanding of semiconductor process flow and integration as it relates to DRAM and NAND memory development
  • Knowledge of data analysis techniques and scripting is highly preferred
  • Open to work off shift and weekends if necessary
  • Open to domestic and international travel

Education:
MS or BS + 2 years of equivalent process engineering experience
