Job Description:
Rail Engineer - USA - Virtual / Remote Based
Opportunity :
- Parsons is now hiring an experienced Rail Engineer who will support and design systems for high-speed rail, light rail, and transit systems for projects throughout the USA. This position can be based anywhere in the USA for the selected professional with the essential experience with track design engineering.
Responsibilities :
- Review and assure compliance with Railroad design requirements for projects in the design phase and provide design support for projects in the construction phase; Manage key railroad documents including track charts, composite maps, and as-built drawings;
- Support design engineering work on various complex engineering and construction projects. Proactively manage scope, budget, schedule, functional quality, internal and external impacts and assure projects are designed and constructed safely
- Coordinate preliminary planning for civil and railroad engineering projects, site visits, determining the scope of work, estimating engineering cost, estimating labor and materials, providing information to the project engineer to assist in determining whether project design or construction can be done in-house or contracted outside
- Design track systems for various rail projects for high-speed rail, commuter rail, light rail, and transit system on various projects around the USA.
- Perform vertical and horizontal alignment designs for various railway systems.
Experience :
- A 4 year Degree in Civil Engineering or a related degree.
- At least 5 years or more experience with track design in the USA
- A PE registration is required for this position.
- Experience with passenger rail systems, high-speed, commuter and light rail systems.
- Experience with track engineering and coordination with other disciplines on large rail projects.
- Experience with Class I railroads and/or transit agencies desirable
- Experience with Amtrak preferred
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
- Potential to perform in a lead capacity, excellent written, oral communications skills, and a familiarity of industry practices and regulations are required. Must also possess a thorough knowledge of current technology and be able to select and apply appropriate engineering software for use on project. Must understand the financial aspects and responsibilities of rail projects.
- Must have experience using Microstation and Inroads/Inrail
- Experience creating 3D models and use of OpenRoads/OpenRail preferred
This position pays a minimum annual salary of $67,400.00 and a maximum annual salary of $118,000.00.
